I’ve been seeing this guy for about two months and things have been good (similar interests and a huge amount of chemistry). Was starting to feel real feelings and think we might have a future. Then last night this convo happened/

Him: “I really enjoy being with you. I’m so happy we found each other.” Me: “Aw, that’s so sweet. I’m happy too. Don’t break my heart.” Him: “Don’t be fickle and shallow. Deal?”

I have no idea what he is referring to. I’m pretty much a slob. I mentioned I’d gotten a haircut that day, but that is literally all I can think of. This remark was like a needle scratching a record. And I’m kind of insulted by it. All he had to say was something vaguely reassuring like “I’ll try not to.” Or no response at all! I responded “I’ll think about it.”

Do I:

  1. Ask him what he meant
  2. Block with no further comment
  3. Say nothing until/if he tries to make plans, then tell him I’ll be too busy off being fickle and shallow

It seems too soon to be bothering with any kind of arguments.

This gives me the spider sense that if we ever have disagreements he’d blame them on me. Or maybe he is projecting or transferring his feelings about someone else onto me.

It was a weird thing to say, right?
