I hate that word so fucking much. I dated someone for a while who would treat me like shit and then say it was because he didn’t want to be a simp anymore. It’s pathetic.

I’m about to sound so old and crotchety but these youths took old AAVE and made it something it’s not. Back when I was a little girl, simp was a word for a man who would do shit like lie about literally anything from jobs, age, housing situation, etc, would flash money at women they were interested in, would do anything the degrade other men in front of a woman to make himself look good to that woman, despite being a POS.

The roots are misogynistic, of course, as SIMP stands for someone idolizing mediocre p*ssy, but it was several SEVERAL steps above just being nice to women back then. It was basically the level of LVM selling all their possessions and borrowing money from everyone to continue perpetrating a lie that they live well just to sleep with a woman.

I feel like this is something they do to also sabotage other men that actually had a fighting chance at a good relationship. They don’t like to be the ones pulling their dicks alone. Misery loves company I guess🤷‍♀️

I’ve had some guys try to treat me like trash and when they got thrown out they actually ended up acting like simps (the OG definition) they only acted this way when they put any chances up in flames. Sent 10+ unwanted texts into the abyss we call “leaving them on read” they literally send so many. I was thinking like dude, I thought you were against simping an look at you doing exactly that when I wouldn’t even spit on you if you were in fire.

Honestly, I cringe to think what these young gen z'er males are taking in, and how they will treat woman when they are older. "Simping" was a term made by a "famous" gen z tiktoker, encouraging other guys his own age not to treat their girlfriends with respect or do nice things for them. Other impressionable people will be taking on what he's saying and thinking its the cool thing to do.

I once saw a video of a guy who was being encouraged by other men (youtubers known for pranks) to destroy his girlfriends computer and then kick her out of the house in reward for like $1,000. He did it after being told not to be a "simp" and that was enough motivation for him to go on to do it. The poor girl had no idea what was going on. In the end, the boyfriend didn't even get the cash which was basically the best part of the whole thing.

He's a simp for wanting to spend more time w/ his family?? First of all, clearly he had a family so he could be with them, second of all, dude was co-ceo for 11 years at one of Europe's largest e-commerce fashion companies. I'm sure THE SECOND he re-enters the job market, he'll have no trouble getting a new job. I'm sure he personally see this as not losing much but gaining a lot, as his career isn't going to disappear, but his kids won't be young forever.

A guy on a facebook group earlier was selling some stuff of his (a chair and an arcade game thing) because he was moving in with his girlfriend and ALL the comments were about how his girlfriend had him "whipped"... He ended up commenting that it was all stuff he'd planned on selling for years and he hadn't had time, and closed the thread.
