Game all day? Let's say once your husband has left for work, cooking and cleaning for a family would take 3 hours per day. If you had kids, then you'd need to take a 2 more hours out doing activities with them. That leaves 1 hour to unwind while the kids are having naptime. Then 2 hours of chilling while still being surrounded by your kids. Then the husband comes home and it's time to cater to his needs after a long day of work. There's only "me time" while the kids are napping. This guy thinks being a housewife means he can just game all day. That's some hilarious fantasy land bullshit.

When they are talking about being house husbands they are only talking about how they get to clean once and do nothing else, they don't even know that women in the past used to help their husbands with their jobs and got nothing back for it, not even credit or a thank you. Being a SAHM is an awful job with modern men.

My ex once called his mother to tell on me because I left a spot if homemade pasta sauce on the counter for a few hours.

She handled it well, and told him to clean it. It was right after my second child, as well. I came to find out he was on his third affair at the time.

It doesn't surprise me that a man talks like this, after all it was men who put women in this situation and all of them thought they were doing us a favor. This is the kind of men who had put women in a stay at home situation, without even asking a women. This man already has its mind set that we women are dumb for giving up our "special" position, and if women will try to argue him and tell him it is not good, he will only gaslight.

This why I say don't argue with men, trust men. Men simply will never understand how you feel and they always think they know better even if YOU are the one who experienced this kind of things.

It saddens me how much men think women have it easy. They think all the struggles women face are so trivial they would gladly experience what we do. I remember telling a bunch of men how frustrating it is as a woman to be told by men to “get back in the kitchen” or “make a sandwich.” They responded but saying they wouldn’t mind because they love cooking. When I told them the word “female” as a noun could be used in a derogatory way, they said they wouldn’t mind be called males. What they don’t understand is that these terms are laced with hostility and misogyny. They’re not complimenting your cooking, they genuinely want you to be servants to them. You would understand too if your gender was constantly used to degrade and dehumanize you everywhere you went. And no, I don’t mean women complaining about men treating them like dirt. That’s not oppression for you.

If SAHMs have it sooo easy, why aren't we seeing large numbers of men prioritising financial stability over looks when dating, becoming good cooks and efficient housekeepers, babysitting their neighbours' kids "for practice" and offering to be the one to give up their jobs to raise their kids?

If cleaning and cooking and looking after children are not that difficult, why are so many men so bad at these things?

If it's so terrible that wages have gone down now that both sexes typically work full time, why not solve this problem by having men be the unpaid stay at home partners? After all, we've done it for centuries. Maybe they should take one for the team for a change.

Why aren't men concentrating their efforts on becoming ideal stay-at-home house husbands instead of wasting their time trying to persuade women to stop competing with them in the workplace?

1) Amazing how they have no idea the level of work that's involved in maintaining a household. Even just living alone! What guys like this tell me are 1) their parents never made them do much, or any, chores 2) they've never even babysat for a day, or spoken in detail to anyone who has 3) they barely clean their own houses. If they had chores and kept their places actually clean (like, dusting the stupid fucking molding clean), PLUS knew how much work kids are, he wouldn't be saying being a stay at home parent is a walk in the park.

2) The concept of financial independence never crosses their minds!? Women, PEOPLE, want to work so they can control the destiny of their lives. Has he ever fucking spoken to a woman!? Or to quote "mclovin" from superbad: "Read a fucking book for once!!"

This is an extreme example compared to the typical American woman, but I'd send this guy a link to an article I read a few years ago, about how Indian factories are finding teenage girls from villages out in bumblefuck as a cheap source of labor. Many young women are interested because w/o this opportunity, they have no other option than to get married. One girl absolutely didn't want to marry any of the losers in her village, so she was so excited to get this job in the city, but unfortunately she got really sick, had to go back home, and her family didn't have money to send her back :/. But when the girls got their first paychecks they were super excited. They never had their own money before, and before they got these job offers, they never were going to have their own money.

Honestly I think many women want to be SAHM (because they are burned out and tired from doing it all) but the men aren’t on board. The men all want more money for play and toys. I feel they should step up and get a second job so the woman could stay home if she wants that.
Plus we have lost many protections we used to have in divorce thanks to MRA selfish fuckwits.
Men don’t help around the house. It’s grossly unfair that we are expected to do all the child raising, house keeping, emotional labor AND work outside the home. And we are expected to look perfect, workout and be cheerful all the time. That is not humanly possible and is probably why a lot of married moms are on antidepressants. No one wants to address this issue because it is so politically charged.

It’s a lovely fantasy for him but something tells me he would absolutely fail at handling all the responsibilities of being a SAHP. The housework takes more time than ever before thanks to the increase in the amount of stuff people have. And taking care of small children will take precedent over scrubbing a toilet all day. He’s no where near emotionally mature enough to handle the behaviors and moods of toddlers- you can’t just tell them to STFU so you can go back to your WOW game or beer drinking.

When my ex-husband’s daughter was being homeschooled because of pandemic, he WHINED SO MUCH at actually having to look after her more than once or twice a week, complete schoolwork and activities and do 50% of the parenting (with his ex) for the first time in his life.

His solution?

Demand that I take on 50% of his 50% of the work, even though his job involved working from home and answering a few emails (aka completely flexible). He was SO STRESSED and overworked the poor baby.

I was already helping out with this daughter, I enjoyed doing that, but I expected it to be perceived that way - me helping him - and to be receiving gratitude for that.

When I resisted? He abused me.

So what did the abusive piece of shit get instead? 6 months of home schooling all by himself, plus all the housework and everything mum’s do because I LEFT.

It was only wealthier women who were ever afforded this sort of dynamic anyway. There have always been lower class and working women, even in the past. In the US, black American women were literally enslaved in the past. This sort of dynamic really only applied to the wealthy/upper middle class or high class women. It was not the “norm” by any means. The cost of living has risen and wages have stagnated, but now we have technology like Uber eats, Amazon prime and all sorts of things that make home life more convenient.
