Yeah, so my thoughts are that I don't want to have rampant sex with various women. I don't want to share women or be part of their plan to get pregnant and charge me for the rest of my life and not let me see the kid.

Monogamy is not the human norm, it's something that was created by every society as a way to channel the other 80% of males into acting to improve society. Genetic studies on the Y chromosome compared to mitochondria DNA is pretty damning here, women out reproduced men on a 4:1 ~ 5:1 ratio most of the time and as much as 10:1 during crisis or resource scarce times. This is biological proof of the 80/20 rule, the top 20% of men reproduced with the top 80% of fertile women, leaving the bottom 80% of men to deal with the bottom 20% of women. This is our natural tribal state, a handful of males reproducing with the majority of women and the other males just fucking off.

The downside to that natural system is that there isn't much incentive for the bottom 80% of males to actually do something useful after basic needs are met. In a live or die world basic survival takes up almost all the time, yet once things improve and stuff like fishing, permanent shelters, guard dogs, organized society become a thing, more free time exists for men to do fuck all. What better way to incentivize those men to do something useful then to promise them a dedicated piece of ass if they prove themselves worthy. The top 20% go from having 4~5 women each to only having 2-3, but the incentive creates a more comfortable place for them anyway because now the loyalty of a bunch of other men has been purchased.

That is what happened to every society and it usually involves some sort of religious commandment taught to them by some guy in animal skins chanting near a fire. It is what enabled society to develop technology, expand across the globe and even leave the damn planet.
