Quite a number of women I have seen don't want any children at all. And are looking to do a Dink lifestyle with a man/woman. And for those that don't know what Dink means it's double income no kids.

That's not how this works. If a resource is supply constrained and demand increases, prices will go up. If it is not, then supply will eventually meet demand at an equilibrium price.

It isn't going mainstream because the demand doesn't exist at the current price point, because this technology is more likely supply-constrained than not.

Increasing supply CAN lower prices, but only if the demand for that supply already exists at whatever the lower price is.

TL;DR: No mass demand at current price. No incentive to supply the technology at a price where people would have demand for it as it likely would not be profitable.

Not as effective as you think it is. Lots of women struggle to conceive using it and the eggs might go bad in the meantime

From the perspective of a single woman 29yo: I won't need children to be happy in my life, so I won't force it. I only would like children if the right man comes along, and then we'll try it. If I struggle to conceive with 35+, the likelihood is high I would also have struggled to conceive when younger. Then that's just how it is. And I think the chances of birth defects when I am 35-40 are still much slimmer than the failure rate of IVF. So not really a point in betting on that.

Because it's fucking hella expensive and the process for fertilizing those eggs is even more expensive.

If they're freezing embryos, that's also expensive.

It's not a foolproof method. The eggs can go bad, and sometimes they might not even harvest many of them. It's very expensive and most insurance doesn't cover it. It's not the most pleasant process, either, but I imagine that more women would be trying it if it weren't for the high cost. My wife went through it so I could probably ask her any questions that someone might have. There were some side effects, but nothing that she has lingering nightmares about. She says that the worst part was actually just sticking a needle into herself everyday to give herself the hormone shots. They give you partial anesthesia for the procedure itself so that you don't remember it.

Your average person rarely thinks that far ahead. For a person to get real value out of it they'd need to freeze their eggs in their early to mid 20's for a point over a decade in the future. Your average woman in her 20's is more likley to think she'll find a guy and a lifestyle on her schedule and not worry about it. If those guys don't turn out right or the process takes too long or something goes wrong again, most people are shit at planning ahead.

Expensive, apparently hurts, and just an invasive/complicated procedure. Also not guarenteed to work. I might freeze some eggs after I already get a couple of kids JUST IN CASE, but I'm not going to depend on it.

Also, there's value in being a bit young when your kids are born so you can relate to them better and be around longer for them. So it's definitely not plan A for most people.

It's not the freezing that's the problem, it's the thawing afaik. It's been a while, though, so perhaps "scifi is now" by now, who knows.
