It's appalling the potential for innocent events to be abused to give women a greater sense of power over men than they already have. Power corrupts so it will spiral upwards with greater and greater abuses of that power for entertainment value and increasing paranoia.

I'm concerned that if men are going to be convicted for trivial things, they might just decide to be hung for a sheep as for a lamb.

It reminds me somehow of the Milgram experiment that tested how far people would go in inflicting suffering on others in obedience of authority: if you assume women are given their own authority to conduct their own punishment. Life or death based on subjective feels.

I would like to add that there's a HUGE difference in how a photo is taken. If you're at a rock concert and a photographer is photographing the show and happens to get you in the background, that's nothing to bitch about. You're in a public place. There's no reasonable privacy expectation. Someone has every right to take pictures there. If you don't want to end up photographed, don't go to the event. On the other hand, if someone hides a camera and takes a so-called "uppy" picture up a woman's skirt, that's a privacy violation (and should be illegal if it isn't already).

Also, in a public place, if some dude approaches a woman in a friendly way to start a conversation, he's done absolutely NOTHING wrong. The approach burden is on men to be able to find a girlfriend. Women are in a huge position of privilege, as finding a mate is way easier for them and they have little to no rejection to deal with. They should be thankful and not bitch about it. It's a problem only if the man's behavior is inappropriate, for example, he's lewd, saying something like, "Show us your tits." But something like,

It's funny how they hide extremely dangerous generalization behind the veil of talking about actual abuse. I always feel uncomfortable around people so much so that I avoid doing things I really should until it's almost too late and I have to rush with everything. When I hear two or more people laughing, my first thought is that they're laughing on me. I don't want to share anything about me to people because I feel they'd use it against me. Does that mean every person around me is abusing me? Based on this logic it does and if I was a woman, I could report all of them to the Scottish police. I would just like to point out how nobody on this thread is talking about action, about calling their representatives, marching the streets, talking about appropriate and inappropriate behavior towards others, what is and is not acceptable, etc. However, many people in this thread are simply saying “don’t even text your crush ‘hello’s and delete your nsfw pics for your own safety, you don’t need them anymore,” and talking about how women are exerting themselves over men.

But nobody is talking about why this happened to begin with in this thread. Sarah Everard, the girl mentioned in the article, was walking home from a friend’s and got kidnapped and murdered by Wayne Couzens, a 48-year-old Metropolitan Police constable and firearms officer.

Look, it’s not the woman’s or all women’s fault. The discourse on this thread is really sad, from a woman’s perspective.

There are a lot of “spam” and “spoof” bills that get made to make a discussion, to rile people up. There’s always an article that gets written that goes, “[Place] submits bill for vote, ‘Kill All First-borns’ that might get a lot of approval and funding, and there be counter-bills, ‘Kill Absolutely Everyone’ that not many people like and is or both examples are intended to get you mad, get you talking, but ultimately won’t pass because of the subtle implications and obtuse generalizations it can have.

Edit 4/18: Nothing has changed IRL anyways. The article encourages women to report inappropriate, harassive, predatory behavior and assaults. Just like going to the manager of a place to report an incident, filing an incident report, or to the authorities. Nothing changes IRL so long as they don’t pursue legal action (I.e., you actually assault, harass or stalk them) there aren’t any repercussions for you harassing women by staring them down on the county bus, or recording women at the club that threw it down for a few moments. The worst that happens is that an incident report is filed with the place of business, or a figure or authority, but so long as laws weren’t violated (assault) they can’t pursue you legally and therefore you won’t lose your job, house, life etc.
