Why not, then men will just go to the highest paying jobs anyway and the imbalance will remain. But now you can actually be a teacher or nurse if you really want to

I wouldn't mind a pay raise, as a dude in the medical field... But if you increase wages in female dominated fields, men will just flock there and out compete women for the top spots. It won't fix the problem, they're trying to balance against male evolutionary disposition. Women will never earn as much, on average, as men do, unless you are unreasonably tyrannical towards men.

I mean, just look at Lindsay Shepard's video she made recently about wanting kids. Even as a woman who is educated and well reasoned, she realizes there is never a good time to interrupt your professional life with having a kid, and that she will be best off having a kid before 28. I turned 28 this year, and I definitely don't feel ready for a kid. I'm working my ass off to go back to school and move forward in my career. But women have to seriously consider the fact that the longer they wait beyond 28, the more problems they will have trying to procreate.

So they're in a crappy position, where they can't just use their early adulthood (20s and 30s) to advance their career and shore up their finances before having a kid. They have to have one as soon as they reasonably can, and that means their career is going to suffer compared to a man who doesn't have to do this to procreate. It's even been shown that men are more likely to experience success at work after they have a child, because they are driven to be even more successful a provider.

I don't think every woman has to have children, but I think a lot of them will regret putting their career first when they're having miscarriages and ivf treatment in their late thirties.

This is a logical progression of the gender pay gap myth argument -> implement wage controls at the sector level to correct the free market’s discrimination. The current gender pay gap argument is easily countered by asking, “Why don’t firms exclusively hire women and enjoy a discount on their labor costs, creating a massive competitive advantage?”

I'm going in to the teaching field. I'm also a woman. I don't expect to make 6 figures a year. The school districts around me haven't raised starting wages since 2001 and haven't given cost of living wages since 2007.

32,500 is what teachers start at locally. No supplies allowance, though you can write some of that off on taxes. We have a reasonably low cost of living but that is terrible for a bachelor's degree.

31,500 is what a 15 dollar minimum wage gets you.

Teachers all over the country are fighting stagnant wages. Especially since most states require continuing education. Getting a masters degree gets me 4,500 more a year.

Teaching is a calling. You have to want to do it and love learning and learning. But having nearly 2 decades of pay stagnation is bad. I know several teachers who bartend to make ends meet.

One thing I’ve noticed over the years, and I’m a nobody, but when working with kids coming out of school in general. Whether it be high school or college kids. They’re lazy. I know I’m sounding like those old people now but from my experience. They show up to work when they want. If you give them a project and a deadline and come back to find everyone on Facebook or twitter and doing selfies acting like they’re getting shit done when in reality you would have had this done long time ago. Etc etc.

But to my point. These college kids are the ones now pushing this extremist feminism. They don’t understand that to keep a job you have to be valuable enough for your employer to keep you or at the least be proficient enough that when they’re scheduling they know you can do your job without constant supervision. And this applies to make or female. But eventually hours get chipped down because you have tried and tried to train them, get them to show up on time, and get them to a place where they can handle their tasks. And not just for the sake of that you need them, but like with me personally, I wanted those under me to succeed and move up. Now most my management experience is in retail but from working in multiple fields the core ideas are similar.

Will wrap it up got way longer than intended lol. I’m not slamming females here. The best crew I ever had was actually an all female crew. We had the shittiest shift, we had to be there sometimes 3am to unload the truck and do all the backend and inventory stuff. It took getting rid of quite a few people, but ended up with a crew that I didn’t have to babysit. They did their job. And they ended up moving into management (and to no surprise got a pay raise). But there’s those that feel threatened because they’re expected, along with the rest of humanity, to not be worthless. These are the ones screaming for higher pay. They haven’t moved up in their jobs because they’re lazy and don’t even try.

They are arguing for equal opportunity but asking for equality of outcome (socialism).

Always pay attention to that and point it out.

In case you’re unaware of the difference.

Equal opportunity already exists. This mean they (women in this case) have the same abilities to go to school for engineering for example and get jobs in that respective fields.

Equality of outcome would be if they went to school for dance theory but state that they deserve the same pay those who went into engineering. Then declaring that since they aren’t making as much financially as those who went to school for engineering it is somehow sexist against them.

Well, I'm all for nurses and teachers getting more money. And as sad as it is, making it about a gender thing looks more promising nowadays than making it about a labor/class thing.

Which of course was the whole point of starting feminism in the first place.
