So I've been trying to sort out my feelings about MRA/MRM. I completely understand the need for a space for men (and women) to discuss issues that pertain to men. I understand why feminism may not appeal or seem to offer a safe space for men to have these conversations. I agree that there are systems and situations where women either receive more attention, more resources, or more opportunity. As well, that there are systems and situations that work against men in our current society.
However, I keep running into an issue over and over and that issue is the rampant antifeminism in the Mens Rights area. While I understand criticism of feminism's ability to adequately address Mens Rights the way that many men would like to see them addressed, what I don't understand is:
Why do the majority of MRA/MRM posts on male issues focus so much on feminism instead of the issues that need to be solved?
It feels like many posts/videos/streams/etc are made specifically to dismiss, denigrate, or even outright attack feminism rather than discuss the actual issues at hand. And I personally find that it detracts a lot from the conversation by being adversarial and combative and setting up a false dichotomy. Wouldn't the ideal circumstance be to raise awareness and make progress toward resolving men's issues (and correct the system that created them) than to just attack feminism?
Half the time it feels like it's just a pissing contest between Feminists and the MRA's to see who can pull the most accurate statistic out of a hat. Or to see who is more of a victim. Or who is more at risk. And all of these things kind of miss the point that the issues both genders are encountering are the result of a broken system. We're on Kaczynski's Ship of Fools at this point.
Update: So this blew up a bit in the time since I was last able to look at it. Instead of responding individually I would like to respond collectively:
I came here in good faith and without malice. The biggest outside perspective of MRA is that it is a hate group, but that is not a belief I ascribe to (although I do see it perpetuated, similar to seeing the feminazi stereotype perpetuated) and so I came here to understand the specific issues MRAs have with feminism because I rarely see them discussed (which may simply be a product of my own ignorance, which I am more than willing to admit) and I wanted information straight from the source. I do find MRA postings more inaccessible when they immediately devolve into feminist bashing. Especially because, prior to this discussion, I did not understand where the vitriol was coming from if both sides are genuinely seeking to improve rights for their respective factions (which I do not believe to be mutually exclusive goals, but am now seeing may have mutually exclusive methodologies). I also feel the need to point out that I'm not okay with bashing on either side. I think that the "feminists" who spout hatred and sexism are terrible people who shouldn't call themselves feminists. Everyone deserves dignity and respect, regardless of their ideological alignment. And if their ideological alignment is hurtful to others or disrespectful of others, it needs to be called into question. That includes feminism as much as anything else.
Thank you to those who took the time to explain some of the core concepts to me, and who took the time to cite sources and provide references. I genuinely appreciate your openness to have this discussion and your effort to educate me as an outsider. I have learned a lot and am taking a lot away from this conversation.
To those who felt the need to label me a feminist and immediately dismiss me (or PM me hate) - I'm sorry that you feel that way. Really I currently have no alignment and that's why I am looking into alternatives to feminism and trying to understand a wider range of viewpoints. There are good feminists out there. There are good people out there. There are also some really shitty feminists and people, and I'm sorry if those individuals (as a group or on their own) have caused you to feel like you can't carry on a logical and reasoned and calm discussion.
I think the most important thing for both men and women is to unite and seek a better system for themselves as well as for each other. I am not confident in Feminism to do that, but I am not particularly confident in any group to do that as of yet. I think both genders are suffering in different ways, and are both victims of a system of oppression. Not patriarchy, but a system that relies on the false dichotomy that has been long established - and that relies on the formation of groups that fight against each other rather than fighting for each other as it distracts from the progress to be achieved. I would not label myself an MRA on the basis of certain foundational ideological differences, but I am very much in support of what the movement represents and seeks and I will move ahead with an open mind and heart and sense of understanding. Thank you again.

Because feminism is the root cause of many of the issues that are trying to be solved here.
In order to solve the issue, you need to address the problem. The problem that has caused so many mens rights issues is feminism.
Think of third-wave feminism as oxygen to the fire. You can fight the flames themselves and you may be successful, or you may not be. But if you suffocate the flames by eliminating the oxygen, then the flames have 0 chance to persist.

"Equality" has become the motte in much of modern feminism, it's what they claim to want to avoid criticism. When the criticism stops they can safely to back to posting #killallmen on tumblr

You can take a look at the suggested reading list in the sidebar, or follow any of the numerous links on the side.
You may also want to clarify what sort of feminism you are talking about.
This makes me think you are talking about 1st / 2nd wave feminism, which is not what is discussed and criticized on this sub.

Check out the links on the side bar. It is very easy to look at any of the links on the side.
One link on the side titled "On the differences between the Feminist Movement and the Men's Rights Movement" may be a good place to start.
I am not going to summarize anything. If you truly want to be informed and understand why 3rd wave feminism is an issue to men's rights, you will do the reading.
Hope this helps.
Edit: It is not my job to enlighten you. When you try to shame me by saying "You'd think it would be easy enough to do if this is an ideology that you align with" it makes me believe that you do not wish to have an enlightened discussion, but rather a debate about the merits of feminism and the problem with men's rights and the men's rights movement.
You came here asking for the reason why feminism is often criticized here, but did not take the 5 seconds to browse the sidebar which answers that exact question.
This is why I am not summarizing. Because you have put forth zero effort to do your own due diligence and are expecting someone else to do it for you, when you are the one with the questions.

I would recommend starting at the top of the page of the sidebar, and reading everything that is posted.
This includes links, the FAQ, the Mod Policy, A list of Interesting Discussions, as well as External Links.
Once you have completed the sidebar reading, you will have much more of a knowledge base. You will also have additional resources that are referenced in those pages/articles/studies.
You can continue to educate yourself from there.
I hope this helps.

/u/xemuj, the side bar has all of the specific resources and literature.
How is this a difficult concept to grasp?
If you are going to be a contributing member of this sub, please do your due diligence.
The sidebar (which is located on the right side of your screen) has a great amount of resources (any and all of them are fine, to be specific) that can and do answer how feminism is the root cause of many of the men's rights issues.
I hope this helps.
