A first class citizen assaulted a second class citizen, what did you expect to happen?

[–]Xuan_Wu 55 points56 points57 points 11 years ago (33 children) | Copy Link

I want to say "2edgy4me," but this is unfortunately too true sometimes.

[–]_skipp_ 68 points69 points70 points 11 years ago* (32 children) | Copy Link

It is certainly true. Women are the privileged sex, always have been. Ever notice how it's "women and children" rather than "children and women?" To put it bluntly, in a state of nature it's not that big a deal if a child dies. It's a very big deal if too many women die. As in extinction level big deal. Men? Irrelevant. Sperm is cheap.

We protect women first (neoteny = sympathy) Followed by children. When girls reach puberty they gain value. When boys reach puberty they lose value. That's why our ancestors had all-male "secret" groups that all women knew about but didn't make a fuss about.

If our society cared about children we would have massive domestic violence campaigns aimed at women, who are the primary abusers of children. Since abuse is mostly cyclical, eliminating female abusers would also eliminate most of the violence (including sexual violence) aimed at women by adult males. But that would hurt feminist feelz, so it's a non-starter. Allow me to repeat: the feelings of women are more important in our society than the lives of children.

I'm pretty sure mothers abuse more than fathers because fathers are often, yknow, absent. It's hard to abuse a child you're not even taking care of.

[–]_skipp_ 31 points32 points33 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women initiate divorces 70% of the time, 90% if the woman has a college degree. And overwhelmingly not due to "abuse" -- but boredom.

It is completely unfair to both demand money from the husband and prevent shared parenting. A moral person would regard that as obvious. Feminists are not such people. NOW has consistently opposed share parenting, and used bogus "Duluth Model" statistics to emotionally sway lawmakers. It's despicable.

Most fathers have no desire to abandon their children. Most fathers are loving people. You feminists paint all fathers as villains. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Only rich men can afford to "buy" shared time with their children. Poor men are not only often denied contact but sent to prison if they fail to pay alimony for the month.

The whole thing is obscene.

[–][deleted] 23 points24 points25 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So if men abuse more, they should be ashamed and called out for it but if women abuse more we should instead talk about absent fathers.

Would it surprise you to know that women initiate most divorces, pushing fathers away?

[–]MR_Movement 13 points14 points15 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm pretty sure mothers abuse more than fathers because fathers are often, yknow, absent removed from their children by the state. It's hard to abuse a child you're not even taking care of allowed to take care of.

FTFY. And, no matter what excuse it trumpeted, the fact still remains that women are the primary abusers of children. The argument could even be made that because men are removed from the home then they are not there to protect the children from abusive mothers.

[–]zaiguy 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The majority of child murders are perpetrated by the child's mother, and the stats stay constant whether the father is present or not.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm pretty sure mothers abuse more than fathers because fathers are often, yknow, absent. It's hard to abuse a child you're not even taking care of.

How can you when, in a divorce, it costs the FATHER an arm and a leg to even spend time with him/her? Assuming the mother even allows it in the first place.

[–]Mitschu 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

My twisted interpretation: Women get to abuse children for free. Men have to pay money to get to abuse children. Female privilege.

/s

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women get to abuse children for free. Men have to pay money to get to abuse children.

And according to NOW, "Shared Parenting" gives them a "Discount".

[–]ramot1 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That is correct, single parent distribution matches fairly well with the abuse statistics, only having a slight lean towards mothers more often being the perpetrator, but it is within what I would call a reasonable margin of error.

Where do you get that reasonable margin for error? Data?

Most pimps are female, which is a cross over subject with child abuse, when the madame has underaged prostitutes slaving for them.

[+][deleted] -11 points-10 points-9 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Those campaigns already exist in the form of social services and child protection laws. Nobody thinks it's okay to beat a kid, obviously, but the system is underfunded and it's a complicated issue. Just putting up signs is not going to stop child abuse. It's a complex issue connected with poverty, mental illness and all sorts of social problems. If you want to do something about it, why don't you go into the field of social work... a professional field that's dominated by women, oddly enough. Fancy that!

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points15 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You know what system isn't underfunded? Campaigning against violence toward women.

So you kinda made his point for him, society cares more about women than children.

My mothers side is from Newfoundland. That's as near to the Newfie spelling of "yes, boy" as I can get. But I won't ask if you've got yer moose yet. Instead, I'm gonna grab another beer.

Edit: unless your username has nothing to do with actually being from Newfoundland, in which case, none of this will make the slightest sense so just ignore it.

[–]Thenewfoundlanders 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Haha you know what, I apologize for my username. You are not the first person I've tricked into thinking I'm from Newfoundland, and apparently you won't be the last. All of that sounds crazy and awesome though. What does it mean to have your moose yet?

[–]MasterBassion 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lol. Moose hunting. I believe you're allowed 1 per season. So when ya "git yer moose, b'y", you've got your moose, boy, and you can feed your family for quite some time.

Cheers.

[–]xynomaster[S] 256 points257 points258 points 11 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

She admitted to staff to assaulting him and was simply told she was banned from that one ride. I can't imagine a grown man assaulting an 11 year old girl, or even an 11 year old boy, leaving "light bruising", and being allowed to walk free without punishment.

But apparently women have a license even to beat children without society thinking they've done anything wrong?

[–]ziekktx 143 points144 points145 points 11 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

An off duty officer was the chaperone and decided against looking into it further. What an utter piece of shit.

In addition, a boy was assaulted and the employees decided that security wouldn't be called. That's a huge liability issue; the mother needs to be attacking that, too.

[–]DavidByron2 25 points26 points27 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Probably just acting as they would if they were on duty.

Holding people accountable. . . But fine I see your point.

They named the school teacher and the victim though. . .

[–]potplanty 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because they're not the real victim here. Clearly the woman who assaulted him is so traumatised about it all that she's the victim.

[–]sillymod 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yes, those are unacceptable. Advocating for them will get you a ban on Reddit.

[–]KrazyTom 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Them referring to advocating public shaming, I agree that is ban worthy.

However, how would wanting news articles to include government or similar officials responsible for decisions made listed an issue?

I understand why juries are kept secret and why witnesses and suspects and victims. But why would public officials not be named in a report like this? Is it a UK thing? Especially when they named the teacher and the student.

[–]sillymod 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Reddit has rules against witch hunting.

[–][deleted] 49 points50 points51 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That light bruising would be called multiple contusions if a man had done it.

[–]Dunkcity239 20 points21 points22 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Getting assaulted and not having your assailant punished is part of male privilege

[–]Enverex 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This is the UK not the US, so can't she just contact the police and state that she wishes to press charges for assault against the woman?

[–]MasterBassion 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think that's only successful if the perp is known. It sure sounds like no-one was interested in finding out who she was.

Came here wondering how many clicks it would take to find one of these "can you imagine the reverse" non-arguments, and congratulations you sucking pieces of human shit - it was ONE CLICK. Get your life together, you backwards fuck. Bye!

[–]xynomaster[S] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My point was that violence should never be acceptable. I am very careful not to argue that men should be allowed to hit women - because they shouldn't. Hitting someone for any other reason than immediate self-preservation is wrong. I'm just trying to draw attention to the fact that this shouldn't be viewed as any less wrong because the perpetrator was a woman.

Do you believe that this would have been treated just as leniently if it were a man hitting a little girl, or do you just believe there is a valid reason for the double standard? I am open to changing my view, and am genuinely curious why you think this is a non-argument.

[–]GoldenGonzo 89 points90 points91 points 11 years ago (20 children) | Copy Link

The 36-year-old mum-of-three has made a complaint and the school has decided to cancel future outings there because of it.

So instead of punishing the abuser they instead choose to cancel all future field trips to the place? This more than anything infuriates me.

[–]DavidByron2 48 points49 points50 points 11 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Yes they are punishing the woman who complained and her kid in effect.

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points13 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Or - the school punishes the establishment for not acting decisively enough in protection of the kids - by boycotting it.

[–]RedditorJemi 11 points12 points13 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That's crap. Butlin's made it very clear they would assist in any police investigation. Not detaining people is absolutely necessary for Butlin's to minimize liability. There was no real criticism of Butlin's even mentioned in the article. Butlin's is just being used as a scapegoat to deflect blame away from a woman, as usual.

[–]FreudJesusGod 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Stacey, a mum-of-three, admitted Stanley was left with only a minor bruising on his shoulder.

Speaking of scapegoating... the reporter seems to be happy to deflect blame by mitigating the harm.

Can you envisage a reporter doing the same in an article about a woman being assaulted? Somehow, I don't think that would pass editorial muster.

[–]RedditorJemi 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, they even put the word 'assaulted' in quotation marks to indicate that they don't take it seriously.

[–]Mitschu 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Bullshit. Blatant bullshit.

A spokesman for Butlin's said: "One of our fairground team, operating the Chairoplane ride, was approached by a boy at the end of a ride who said a female adult guest had hit him.

"Our team member spoke to the lady guest, who admitted striking the boy. She accused the boy of swinging his chair so that it hit her.

"Our CCTV footage shows our team member talking with an adult member of the school party in the presence of the boy.

"They offered to contact our resort safety team for further assistance but this offer was declined.

"The lady guest involved was told she was banned from the ride. We would, of course, assist the police with any enquiries into this matter."

They did everything they could do, short of initiating legal action on the behalf of a party that refused to take legal action on their own behalf.

[–]DavidByron2 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

According to Bultins they asked the group if they wanted more done and they told Butlins, 'no".

"Our CCTV footage shows our team member talking with an adult member of the school party in the presence of the boy.

"They offered to contact our resort safety team for further assistance but this was offer was declined.

[–]garglemesh42 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Bullies don't need much of a reason to pick on somebody, and they'll see this as a darned good reason to pick on him.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Lol, tell that to the poor kid who got pummeled by my whole 7th grade class (including myself, ashamedly) because his parents complained about us playing full contact american football without pads during recess, resulting in a ban on football. He was never the same after that, and I feel bad to this day.

Kids are dumb, which is exactly why they will resort to punishing a classmate for something they had no control over. Looking back I can see I was in the wrong, big time. At the time, I just wanted to play football, and that kid ruined our fun when he told his parents about it (probably under the impression there was no reason not to mention it), and he needed to be punished for that.

[–]NecroticFury -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well, one already did.

Julie Burchill has this to say about male suicide, in general:

"That young men succeed in suicide more often than girls isn't really the point. Indeed, the more callous among us would say that it was quite nice for young men finally to find something that they're better at than girls."

Then she said this when her own son committed suicide:

"Finally I peeled his drowning fingers off of me and saved myself..."

"Every time I've left a family, I've gone on to be much happier."

The 36-year-old mum-of-three has made a complaint and the school has decided to cancel future outings there because of it.

Dollars to doughnuts this is to 'punish' the mother, or at the very least the prospect of shaming her through the children at the school lubricated the decision. "Fine, your son was beaten -- we don't want that to happen again, do we? I guess we're just going to have to cancel the trip! That's what you wanted, isn't it? ^_^" Disgusting using a kid to 'punish' a parent for calling out the chaperone.

I can tell you aren't a parent.

Do you know why lawyers are expensive? Because they are worth it. Woman hitting child, father protects the child from crazed woman. A lawyer should't have too much of hard time with that one.

Protecting a child and beating the shit out of the woman are two different things. Your job is to push the police into doing their job and arresting and charging this woman, not giving them a reason to arrest and charge you.

If someone is crazy enough to attack someone else's child, how do you know they aren't crazy enough to try to kill the kid? Your child is the most important thing in the world. You would do anything to protect them. Including laying some lady or man out. Gender isn't important in this situation. Your child and his/her safety are the only important things here.

I give up, talk tough on the internet all you like. Do what you say and end up in jail too.

I'm not talking tough. It's about defending your loved ones. You're placing a lot of faith in the police doing something, and it is evident from this story that it is misplaced. You would honestly just watch someone hit your child? You need to step your game up.

So you just bypass the police and resort to physical violence which you obviously do condone.

Chances are, this kid is bending the truth.

The article says

"Our team member spoke to the lady guest, who admitted striking the boy. She accused the boy of swinging his chair so that it hit her.
