So I am about a month and a half in from finding out about the affair of my 38f wife. Of course I was angry at first, said a lot of terrible things. But then I actually calmed down and was happy because I really didn’t love her anymore either. In fact I had brought divorce/couples counseling 7 times in the last 4 years alone. One time I brought it up she actually had a temper tantrum like a child. Kicking and screaming the floor and everything. So yeah I was upset about the betrayal and disrespect, but not about losing her.

So I’ve been doing pretty good, but then when I look at my kids I just get an empty sadness (we are telling them on Friday and they are ages 7 and 5) and that sadness turns into rage.

And that rage turns into me completely ripping her apart verbally. Like completely. She is weak and terrible at confrontation so I know I have the psychological advantage and I use it to my full effect. I did this last night. Just rehashed all the shit I’ve been feeling and how my life has been blown up, she could’ve asked for a divorce I would’ve given her one, I hope she stays with AP so I can make their lives miserable etc etc.

Then I ended it with “and you’re ugly. You looked better when you were fat.” She was never fat, but curvier and sexier. She started crying and just whispered “you are such an asshole.”

I don’t like being this person, and I’m NOT this type of person. I never was before. But there are times when I’m completely chill and then times when I just lose it.

Does this happen to anyone else? I don’t want to stay angry because then I’ll still be emotionally tied to her…but at the same time it’s only been a month and a half…
