I am going through this and it sucks. 55m married 28 years. We are negotiating a price on the house, she wants to keep it and buy me out with the help of her parents money. I would keep it but it’s not in the cards for me. I am trying to help myself in every way possible. I see a counselor, don’t drink, lift weights, mt bike, play in a band, go to church and talk to my close friends. But it is still the hardest season of my life. It’s like facing a death every day I get out of bed, and I want to go back to sleep. How in the world do women change so fast?

My counselor explained something to me last week that I want to share with you. She told me that in her experience, men are having a tougher time dealing with divorce than women are today. She said that men are fighting, holding on and suffering more in an emotional sense than women are. Women for the most part, are waking up one day and saying “I’m not happy, I’m done.” They simply move on and resort back to their college day freedoms. I never thought that I would be here, because she was so different long ago when we were younger. I am doing everything I can to move forward. I filled out the papers, and I am filing. I have to live again.
