Gloating Parent(s) During the Divorce?

My father is happy as a pig in slop that she is divorcing me, but not in a gloating way. Turns out my dad never trusted her, and more so my inlaws. He saw all of the red flags I missed. Knew they were trying to get me out of the house so they could move in (which, thanks to most of you saying don't leave, did not happen). He knew how much I loved her and my family so he didn't intrude. He held his thoughts thinking he was paranoid. But he knew it all along. And every day I wish he had come forward with his concerns. He was letting me live my life. And for the first time I regret him letting me just be an adult. As always, my parents did and continue to know best.

He's not gloating, he probably advised you but you did not listen, he was "reminding" you of the previous advice he gave so that you won't repeat the same mistakes again

Sorry to say, but your dad is a POS. My parents and even my older brother are very supportive, to the point, where they overreact about things my ex has done and I have to put things into perspective for them be less reactive.

I went through that, but my mom was not supportive at all. We are experiencing problems to this day. I had to eventually just let it go. Some parents are not able to be supportive no matter what. Take that energy being mad and frustrated with you and move on with being a better father and friend in the end. You've heard how a friend is sometimes a friends for only a season, the same with parents. You're either on the bus or behind the bus bench. Sounds like he has decided for you already.

I once shared some of my frustrations about my marriage with my dad and he mocked me for it

He hasn’t expressed glee about my divorce but it seems clear he must not have liked my wife

Not very close to any of my family

Closer with my step sister since the divorce and my brother has tried to step up

Many parents want their children to live better lives than they did. But even they are human beings prone to flaws like envy and jealousy.

I've seen situations where Mom gives her son the love that Dad desperately wanted in the marriage.

Then son grows up gets married and has a wife that loves him. Dad watches this whole thing and sees this man who is his child but feels he took his wife and now he has another woman.

And he is envious deep in his heart but he would not present that because it's just so messed up.

But then when that son gets divorced somehow that dad feels like they are even.

These are the men who blame children for the end of their sex lives and they are angry at their wives but they're not able to process it and they just push it down and now it's coming out during this divorce.

I'm not sympathizing with your father and what you're going through is extremely difficult but I'm just offering you an insight as to how this dynamic happens.

The sooner men figure out how to be self-reliant and not depend on women for validation and can feel okay just being where they are in life, The sooner we break the cycle of pain.

How is your father otherwise? Like is he an all-around jerk or is he situationally a jerk? Not that it matters sometimes a person can be perfect citizen except for that one time that they killed somebody. So one instance can define you right?

That is seriously messed up... wow. For a parent to revel and glory in their child's pain and suffering.... I am so sorry dude. That honestly sounds like reasons to go full no-contact with him. For him to dance around with glee seeing you torn apart, then to turn about and tell others he a big supporter of you... wow.
