I don’t think it’s a good idea to have those apps before you the divorce is finalized. I do however, completely understand your feelings. I’m so lonely, i hate being alone to just sit here and think about her all the time like I do. It’s not so bad while I’m at work cause I’m busy and it’s not so bad when I do get to see my son but just coming home from work and watching tv or eating dinner alone. It’s so depressing. I never stop thinking about her, everything reminds me of her. We were together 10 years so maybe at 10 months I can move on? Currently at 8 months so maybe soon lol!!!

I recommend going down to your local shelter and adopting a couple of abandoned cats instead. Unlike the "people" on the dating apps, they'll actually appreciate you.

Honest question: Do people actually meet organically these days or is everyone condemned to dating apps. I’m a bit old school and I sometimes don’t see the difference between hookup on dating apps and going for an escort service.

If you only want companionship, and not sleeping with anyone, why are you on dating websites? Dating = Fucking

Instead focus on spending time with your good friends and family who are supportive of you. Also look into joining clubs and groups for hobbies that you enjoy.

Change you mindset of only finding happiness in the company of a woman. Didn't a bad marriage already teach you that?

I downloaded the dating apps to see what life would be like once I found out I was getting divorced. It made me sad at first, but I eventually found someone who was compatible enough to date.

Try not to approach it transactionally. There are humans behind those profiles (the real profiles, anyway). You may not hit it off immediately with a date, and you will be tempted to move on to the next one in line. Go slow, date well, and you’ll find someone worth your time and attention.

I’ll give you my 2 cents and my experience. If you aren’t in good shape or good looking apps tend to be hard for men, don’t get me wrong you will get matches and likes but it will be few and far between.

For me once I got in shape and lost 45 pounds, took care of my self, I started getting tons of likes and matches every single day more than when I was heavier. It’s get repetitive because you have basically a check list of questions you get asked, and a lot of times you will start a conversation with a woman on the app and it leads to nowhere or they ghost you.

Now, it is possible to meet someone. My ex wife of 13 years and I met on them. I’ve had a ton of success dating online but I also have nothing else going on in my life besides the gym, work and dating.

I’ve been on 10 dates with 10 different women and had sex with 8 of them. Online dating has completely changed the expectations and experience of in person dating.

I’d say if you want companionship, then I would go out and meet someone in person not through the apps. If you’re looking for a hookup then use the apps.

Nope go forth and date. Dating was the number one thing that helped me get over my ex wife. Sleep with plenty of women, have fun, just don't get anyone pregnant or think about marrying again anytime soon. I never used dating apps so can't comment on those. They sound like a giant time suck to me, if you see a cutie in the real world checking you out go introduce yourself and plan a coffee date.

Online dating is a joke unless you fit one of 3 or 4 cookie cutter personalities. I feel that online you have to kinda sell yourself a bit. It’s a significant time investment. I would say wait and maybe do something’s you enjoy by yourself. I.E. movies, travel, bowling or even dinner. It’s a lot easier to strike up a random conversation & just enjoy that for what it is rather than be put in a box which is what I felt like when I was on dating apps. My two cents…

I think you should focus on meeting people in real-life. That way, they get to know you a little before you tell them you are separated and it will be a little bit less likely that they will drop you the moment they hear you are separated, not yet divorced. Sign up for activities like pickleball, etc., to help alleviate the loneliness.

yeah what's not to like from the other side right?

They are "getting divorced" so they can play the field
They live in your house so they have a roof
They get monetary support for kids and maybe them! whoo! free money!
They are not "divorced" or a "divorced woman" or a "single mom" yet so Yahoo! party time
AND as a kicker you have to AGREE with them (or go through a massively expensive final hearing) to resolve the divorce.
OH AND!!! BONUS ROUND! They get to flaunt a new Boy Toy in front of you and your KIDS! Like what is a better revenge on a Dad right? Having Mom tell the kids "this is your daddy now! I know he's my daddy!"

Which is all the more reason to GET THE DIVORCE DONE... even if you give the wench a sweet deal the quicker you settle... the quicker you can do what men do post divorce

Yeah I wouldn't hold my breath too much on dating apps, studies show a significant portion of men online barely get attention depending on certain factors.

What I would say is that it's good to see that there are other types of people out there to meet, other people who you might be interested in, etc.

Just don't expect matches, messages, etc. Dating apps are a trap for most guys if you are looking to date, and it can destroy your confidence if you don't have the right expectations going into them.

Those are just some guidelines. You do what you think is best for you. Go on dating apps, build your confidence, it’s good but don’t have expectation most apps are paid to use or mostly bots.

Dating apps are full of toxicity. One person ghosts and it’s a chain reaction of people revenge ghosting, being aggressive to basically… strangers. Just one problem of dozens of major issues.

Date if you want. I’d suggest honesty. But don’t let yourself get judged online. Everyone is part of the successes and the problems. And everyone thinks it’s ass.
