I’m 37. Married late. No kids. Divorced for over a year probably closer to 2 years at this point. Here are things I’m not ashamed to admit. My wedding day was the most stressful day of my life. I felt like was just a Ken doll and accessory to an overinflated ceremony when my ex wife knew I didn’t like large extravagant expensive anything. This was 2021 housing market is shit and here is this wedding that’s literally the downpayment on a house.

Ex wife gained a lot of weight before the wedding it took me over an hour to get her out the dress on our wedding night. I just fucked out of obligation. I feel like then engagement up to the wedding was the beginning of the end and to this day I regret not stopping sooner. I regret i didn’t get cold feet. Anything would have been better than liquidating retirement to survive the divorce.

Her dad had a mask policy for thanksgiving. I wanted to stay at home since it was getting weird. She left me without notice to spend time with them I spent thanksgiving by myself.

I lost half my income having to change jobs in the middle of moving from a rental home to a nice double wide I could afford. She didn’t like it because it was far from her world. It was ina safe neighborhood and cheaper than what we paid in rent.

That same year she wanted to go on vacation. I couldn’t see it happening I asked her to save up for it and we go. That didn’t happen.

I really am antisocial to begin with and I have always been a deep introvert I opened up my world and life to her and as soon as the marriage was over I was neglected and mentally scared in ways that bullying can’t hold a candle to.

Sex was not good. But I always make sure she got her orgasm. Can’t say the same for me. Ever.

I hated my jobs. Worked 2 to maintain the home I bought in a budget twice that.

She fucked up our first year of taxes because she didn’t keep track of her 1099s or set aside any extra cash to cover the taxes.

She didn’t understand why I didn’t want to help her with her small business she stated the same month we got engaged.

Finally, went to the ER thinking I was having a stroke. It was actually a very bad migraine. Never been in so much pain one side of your body starts to go numb. The most terrifying event in my life. Scared I would come out different stuck with her.

That same day in the er I got a job offer for more money. I divorced a month later.

I tried to start therapy and instead I pissed off my therapist so I have not bothered to try again.

So here I am.

I’m at so much more peace now. Just hollow and a little dead inside.
