there's material of women enjoying themselves sexually, and then there's porn. i mostly use the former because i can't get aroused watching all the dehumanizing, ritualizing, and commercializing that make porn, porn.

what arouses me, and has always aroused me, is a woman's body. i prefer mostly or entirely naked women in explicit, usually solo activity, ideally without heavy makeup or retouching. i harbor a few mild fetishes but actual porn has a way of making them unenjoyable thru hyper focus for commercial reasons, and a lot of solo material denies them entirely ("no shave, no shoes, no shoot").

porn manipulates the user to focus on the act and the acting, and the man over the woman. her time is 5 minutes of blowjob. the rest is all about the man. you see more of him and you must experience the act thru him, not her, as if you're being cucked by the producer. It can be. Some people cannot handle it in moderation, just like some people cannot drink alcohol in moderation. For some people it may make their incel or misogynistic tendencies worse.

There is also a good deal of shady shit going on in the industry. But name one industry that that isn't true of. Not that any of it is okay, it's just the reality of the world we live in.

Is it straight up "bad" though? I'd argue no. I've never bought into the "porn makes people wanna do non-normal or weird things in bed".

First off, let people enjoy their kinks as long as everything is cool and consensual. Second, there's probably a reason said "act" is popular in porn, because it sells. So clearly someone is enjoying it.

Is it unrealistic? Sure, it can be, but not to the extent that some people say.

I think you become what you do over time. Watching porn, you're basically acting as a voyeur. So it's reasonable to be concerned that you might be rewiring your brain to require voyeurism to get off over time, that is other people having sex, with you just watching.

Then it really depends on who does the watching, how old they are, if they can put it into perspective, how much they consume, and what sort. It's trivial to come up with a scenario that's deeply unhealthy.

Basically, the question as you ask it isn't specific enough to be meaningful.

I think using your own mind is best because you're actively exploring your fantasy and sexuality. It requires effort. You're not lazily confronting yourself with images and caricatures of other people doing it in a way that you hope to find pleasurable.

One is a couchpotato way of doing it, the other is a rather active and I would say actualising process.

Depends on the type of porn you are watching and how much of it are you consuming. If you are watching something simple such as someone getting off, you are fine, but if you are watching extreme stuff, than it's bad.

As long as you are not wasting hours of the day watching it, spending your entire life savings on it, ignoring basic duties in life, than it's fine.

Plenty of people watch porn and are able to function in day to day life.

I mostly masturbate before bed and ocassionally in the mornings sometimes, and thats fine.
