Idk how many times I've witness a woman bending over backwards to make a relationship work and when you ask them why, they get mad at you for asking. If your relationship was worth saving, you wouldn't be coming to me to complain about your man everyday for the past X years you were married to him. Want to stop feeling frustrated, insecure, angry, and unloved? You can solve all your problems by cutting out that toxic man that's causing you to feel all those things.

I used to say dumb things like 'Love is Blindness' and it took me years to open my eyes.

The diehard romanticism permeates every layer of society, every song, movie, book, work of art is about singing the glories and suffering for love. It really is some sort of suffocating conditioning to think romantic love is the ultimate prize. Hopefully we can all move forward to a future where it isn't put on such a pedestal anymore.

Aaaaaaaand this is why we don’t spend time trying to convince lvw to level up. The more you point out their ridiculousness, the more they defensively double down on their devotion to their struggle lover.

After I simply stopped responding to a good friends recounting of her man’s continued shenanigans (I just looked at her evenly, mouth closed, and she’d trail off and change the subject herself)... she left him within two months.

I don’t make new friends who are like this. Women who have scrub boyfriends look for devotion from the women in their lives to make up the difference— they cultivate pity and cast themselves as victims (and certainly on some level they are- we’re all victims of societal programming to various extents). It’s unconscious but you can’t help and being sucked in is your OWN needing-to-be-needed. They are, essentially, immature, and doing their complaining to ‘Mommy’ for someone else to step in and make the world the way they think it should be. Yin and yang to the relationship they have with their scrub.

Politely ignore and move on is the best policy.

LOVE this series of tweets. What I especially love about FDS is it doesn't have women who are like "men suck, down the the patriarchy!" seeing themselves as victims, and yet choose to make bad decisions with men time and time again. I understand social conditioning and all often leads women to make bad decisions with dating, but you can't excuse that forever... Everyone on this planet needs to be brutally honest with themselves and do critical self reflection, and admit when they/their own decisions are part of the problem. Women especially seem to see themselves as victims to their own lives, like they can't do anything but stay with this piece of shit guy. Each of us is responsible for our own happiness. It's awful if someone doesn't respect or love us properly, but we have a responsibility to get rid of such a person.

Oh god, this sounds familiar! My friend is in an on/off again situation with a piece of human trash, the guy cheats and uses women with literally NOTHING to offer (I think maybe a big d??). My friend has fought with the other woman (whom he lived with and has children with) and they have humiliated each other online. I’m so sick of it, dont think I can stay friends with her; only when he dumps her she can see he’s a loser, she talks mad shit, but as soon as he comes back around I’m suppose to be happy for her. And when he fucks off again, disrespects her, insults her, and her son. I’m suppose to be there for her? Yeah ok maybe but not over and over again. After a few years of this I am done, I don’t want to be her friend anymore. It’s not even that I think she can do better, or I don’t want to see her get hurt by him, AGAIN, but I just can’t stand knowing this pos guy has women willing to do anything for him and he can’t even pay for a meal or do the barest minimum. The man’s in his 40’s barely even employed, spent his whole life mouching off women, he is so disrespectful, and disgusting. She says they love each other when last month he wasn’t even talking to her. I just can’t anymore.

I’ve apologized to my best friend because of this. I was young and didn’t know any better so I got mad when she asked me why I was moving to a different country for a man who had an untreated mental illness and would gaslight me into believing all of our arguments were caused by me. We’re cool now but that’s one of my biggest regrets because she’s always been there for me and when we broke up she was also there for me no matter how much of an asshole I was.

If someone asks you why you love a man and you start saying things like “he’s nice, he’s funny, he’s smart, he has a good work ethic” just get out. You don’t love that man! You’re trying pretty hard to love that man, though. And it shouldn’t take trying to love a man. And the qualities you love about him shouldn’t take effort for you to conjure. They should roll off the tongue: “I love how I feel when I am with him. I feel safe when we are together bc he does x y and z. I know he is serious about building a life together because he has shown me through doing x y and z. He surprised me on my birthday with tickets to the Broadway show I really wanted to see.” Etc etc etc.

I think it’s a mixture of the sunk cost fallacy and insecurity. They don’t think they can do better or else they feel they’ve already invested too much to move on. But if your investment is giving no return, sell your stock and cut your losses. It just makes no sense
