So much this. The show called, "Mrs. America" really highlighted this. I couldn't finish it, though. I couldn't handle watching another woman be so against women's rights while being almost forced into submission to her husband with the imaginary facade of her being a strong and a "one of the boys" type woman. She tried so hard to ignore that the men treated her as second-class while fighting against the women who fought for her right to be taken seriously by the same men. It just grosses me out.

This post isn't about abortion, it was about freedom to choose how to live and construct one's own life. Basically it was a bait and switch for women during that era by making women think (via 1950s housewife propaganda) that marriage brought them freedom when really it was still an institution of patriarchy chaining them to men with free labor, birth/childcare and service to their husband. And discouraging working outside the home.

because gender is a construct that patriarchy likes to push as reality. without gender norms and 'studies' showing that a gender is "this" and another is "that" and invoking that submission iS nAtUrAl for women, they will have mayhem. not so easily controlled women will start asking questions and try to have a say. then who will do the laundry and cook the meatloaf and care for the 5 kids? not men, that's for sure!

Offering someone two choices that seem one is good and one if bad but both in fact bring more or less the same result, for example not engaging in casual sex makes you a prude to some men and respected by other men, and engaging in casual sex makes you the same, is literally a Cold War tactic. It doesn’t matter which choice you make.

It’s a joke. I actually made my GCSE speaking on choice feminism. Basically they think anything is “empowering”.

Choices do not occur jn vacuums.

Women don’t get plastic surgery if not for bullshit beauty standards.
People in my country (and rest of Asia and Africa) wouldn’t make the choice to bleach their skin if the beauty standard wasn’t blonde white caucasian.
Working women wouldn’t wear heels to work if heels didn’t mean professional. Or if tall wasn’t a beauty standard.
The muslim woman wearing a hijab (an oppressive tool no matter how you twist it) did not choose to wear it. She was indoctrinated into wearing it. In some cases, family pressure. In the worst cases, “wear it or get stoned to death, your choice
We wouldn’t shave if body hair on women were acceptable. No, a man isn’t holding a razor and making you shave. But you get mocked for having hair on your body.
That prostitute would not have “chosen” a life of being raped by disgusting men if she had a stable childhood, supportive parents, etc.

I don’t know if you looked it up after my comment or not .. but it was astonishing how a lesbian lady explained how men feel about us “men desire women but they don’t really like women .. men like other men Better” and it was eye opening .. she really described how men see women and how they view their relationship with women …there is also audiobook if anyone interested

Sex work is work, especially difficult and dirty work.

You aren't just selling your labor, you're leasing parts of your body to mostly LVM who can't get female attention in any other reasonable way(or don't want to).

At that time it was very important to get women out of the workforce. They had learned to enjoy the independence of a job and income of their own during WWII. Men needed them to get out so they could take their jobs and reassert dominance in their families.

Up until then, many middle class women didn’t have a choice.

So they had to convince those women they were happy being SAHM.

I’ve been listening to a podcast by a neurobiologist. It’s called the Huberman Lab. In one podcast he goes into detail as to how the dopamine reward system works along with glutamine and oxytocin. (Anti anxiety, feel good and attachment neurotransmitters)

The short version of this podcast is if you keep doing/ performing the activity that causes the release of these neurotransmitters you cause a temporary depletion. Do them long enough you cause a low base level of these neurotransmitters available to even be released.

I suspect women who “work/perform” in this line of work are so depleted they can’t feel any kind of good “feelings” about what they are doing.
