Imagine if it was your favorite sweater from your college in the load he destroyed.

Imagine having your favorite clothes (and we are worth more than what he would replace) ruined because simple household tasks are “too hard” or “women’s work”.

True story: My then-boyfriend tried the helpless "I don't know how to do laundry" riff with me when we started living together.

I replied, "Okay, don't worry then, I'll do all my own laundry and you can do yours, so you don't have to worry about mucking up my clothing while you learn."

We've now been together almost 19 years and I can count on one hand the number of times I've done his laundry for him. No regrets.

My ex husband did it. Even admitted and bragged about it. I simply didn't do his laundry. At the end of the marriage, the last time i asked him to wash the bedding (with him acting like it's uneccesary) I explicitly told him not to wash his big heavy furry quilt with everything else. Because it was my responsibility to tell him how to do the things too. Guess what he did. Guess what I came home to. A stopped washer with a beeping error and water logged bedding that had to be removed. Then he acted a victim when I took the washer and dryer I bought (he didn't think was necessary )with settings he doesn't know how to use. 🙊

There was an episode of Everybody Loves Raymond that this reminds me of. When I saw that episode, I realized that my ex-husband intentionally effed up every "domestic" chore I asked him to do, including ruining my favorite dress the first and only time I asked him to do my laundry.

If a man did this to me, I'd immediately go to his wallet, get his card and buy new clothes (the most expensive I could find). He destroys something, he has to pay for it. I bet he'd learn how to do laundry right in a minute.

I actually did something similar to my ex - he broke my favorite mug while doing the dishes and I made him pay for another one. He didn't do it on purpose, but regardless.
