This idea of 'Giving men a chance' needs to die. You're allowed to set your standards as high as you want.

Also: nerdy guys are no less misogynistic than other guys. There are nerdy guys worth dating, but nerdy guys like this who think their degree/intelligence makes them something are not worth your time.

Felt this. Last year, I agreed to go on a date with a nerdy compsci student at my college. I wasn't that attracted to him tbh but I told myself it was fine. I had just broken up with my ex who was the "Brad and Chad" frat boy type, so I thought "It won't hurt if I give him a chance, he might surprise me, he probably has redeeming qualities, etc."

On the date, he said, "I didn't expect you to be this smart" because I was pretty and a business student (I'm a finance major?). Kind of a neg, but I ignored it. Then he proceeded to subtly insult me for wearing a lot of makeup (which I don't even do, but ok), being in a sorority, and going to parties.

Just as judgemental and cocky as the frat boys I've dated, just in a different way.

Eurgh 'nerds'. My ex proclaimed himself to be "super fucking smart" because he got some good GCSE grades (exams you take at 16) 🙄 When he saw I'd consistently far outdone him academically he said he hadn't realised I was intelligent and negged me about what I'd done since. He would also mock my language learning hobby, which I'd do near him while he was busy shouting at his Xbox and otherwise mostly ignoring me. He had a massive superiority complex and was obsessed with caveman pseudoscience garbage, misogynistic nerdbros on YouTube, Joe Rogan, and anime. And I'd forced myself to like him to begin with 🤡🤡 Noooo thanks

I swear I knew a guy just like that. Everytime I ran into him he would complain about being single, not making it past second or third date, being ghosted. When he finally got a girlfriend it turned to complaints about her career (she doesn’t work in a science related field), her intelligence (she only has a BA), her age (she’s slightly older). Never even met the girl and I feel bad for her.

grades arent a measurment of inteligence , here are some reasons:

Test anxeity (you can be smart but once the paper is on the desk you panic and all your inteligence goes to waste)
Tests measure your ability to remember stuff and recurgitate it back onto a piece of paper/the teachers ear (for oral tests/exam). the test doesnt measure if you acttualy keep the "education" after the test/school.
Some people dont care about the grade that much despite their inteligence and instead persue their intrest(s)/obsession(s) (or better put , different people care differing ammounts about the grade , and their ammount of fucks given will influence their grade) , if a dumb person does nothing but learn for good grades , they will get a good grades , if a smart person did nothing the day before the test but study some random unrelated shit they have a intrest in , they will get a lower grade
Different types of inteligence , there are multiple kinds of inteligence but we can just use the "stupid = Low logical inteligence" and "inteligent = high logical inteligence" and disreguard all others so its not as agregeious

I guess something like "are you a curious person" or "what are your intrests" whould be a better measurment
