Yeah, or they say something which tries to imply that. "Girls should stop only going for tall guys." "Give guys you don't like a chance as they may not actually be that bad." "Women should stop discriminating against men who are poor."

A lot of dating advice given by men on the web are written from the perspective of LVM. Of course they want women to lower their standards as they know women with high standards don't want to date them and they don't want to stay single forever. They are yet not bothered to improve themselves, so they advise women to lower their standards to make things easier for them.

When you set high expectations for people you show respect for them and for yourself. It's an education behaviour management tool at the most basic level and when I get pushback from students about the rules I explain to them that I respect them as people and I won't accept low effort towards their own education. Applying this mentality to FDS dating standards, we are showing more respect towards ourselves, men and other relationships in our lives by setting expectations and standards.

I saw an article recently written by a woman saying we should just settle and marry the first guy that is interested in us and have kids with him, so at least we would have a partner in life. I hate that saying. Yesterday I read a post from around woman who was clearly HV. She chastised her SIL for telling her to lower her standards after complaining about the shit she encounter in the dating world. Of course the comments come out saying “most people mean looks when they say that” or “you better uphold those standards yourself too.”

First of all, women are allowed to have physical preferences just like men. Why are we all supposed to be okay with bald ugly dad bod men? Second of all, every person I’ve ever met who says this has settled and knows damn well, once they get a chance to even whiff their “dream” person’s air, they’ll either up and leave their partner or cheat.

It really is just collective gaslighting because women really aren’t allowed to ask for anything. Men are constantly punching up in their dating lives but the second we want an equal we’ve got high standards and we’re asking for too much. I’d rather be alone than join the misery of the “lower standards” club.

Exactly, when I was single the only dating articles worth anything were from the BWE movement. I hate the whole “give him a chance” crap. No way. And sometimes we receive these bad advice from our own mothers which feels like such a huge betrayal. I try to do my part by advising younger women and telling them to come here. Society really is bent on failing women.

I feel that there is a big percent of men that are just ‘nice guys’ and I found it quite difficult that I will even find a decent male friend. I have been a lurker for months and all the things that I have read in this subreddit are pretty much what I have seen in men. I don’t want to date again.
