Edit: Thank you so much to those who have replied!! I read to through all your responses and appreciate everything you all have said. I replied to the recent scrote (who said to exchange snaps/if he’s ever in my city maybe I can show him around) by un-matching.

Hey Queens! I’ve been getting quite some matches on Hinge, and a few of the guys —whether living within my radius or further away— all end up suggesting that I show them around a particular area if we meet up. This seems like a low effort way of asking someone out; I feel like it’s almost as if they need a tour guide rather than an actual genuine date.

It’s pretty common for guys to mention on their profiles that they’re new in the city or they’re visiting for a short bit and would like to meet up to either get used to the area or for something temporary.

As per FDS, I would expect a guy who’s genuinely interested in me to take his time to suggest [a] place(s) or we both make that effort to find a spot we like. Even if you’re new to an area, it doesn’t take long to Google nice restaurants or places to go to. Like seriously? Just suggesting that I show them around when they’re in my vicinity, and asking for my Snapchat (not sure why it’s necessary if we can continue talking on Hinge) until then just seems off. A few people on another major dating advice subreddit said that it’s their way of wanting to go out with me without having to “have the pressure of a date” lmao, still low effort asf. How would y’all proceed?
