So true. So many men love to derail women’s facts and stories with ridiculous “what-abouts”, that often are completely unrelated to the original topic entirely. And when you don’t argue with them or come back with a perfect rebuttal then they think they “won”.

There was a time I had been reading a Twitter thread of women sharing stories of the disadvantages they’ve faced in medicine because studies historically did not include us, doctors don’t listen to us, and symptoms can be different for us compared to men. So I commented in the thread about my experience with ADHD being handled in completely different ways between my brother and I while we were growing up. He got school accommodations, treatments, therapy, and tutors from the time he was in grade 2 or 3, and nobody acknowledged my learning difficulties until well into college, and by then I had aged out of my parents insurance so I couldn’t even afford to be medicated or treated for it anyways. So of course after mentioning all that, some random guy comes up and starts commenting about “well if you think men are so privileged, what about the mandatory draft? Go fight in a war and then tell me how privileged men are!!” Like dude, HOW is that relevant here???? It’s not. He just wanted to shut down my story by throwing ANYTHING back at me to shut me up. Ridiculous.

Most of the violence men and young boys experience is from other men. Why don’t we work on solving the bigger problem first so we can help everyone? When men and women, and especially children, are safer, they grow up to be more empathetic people instead of perpetrators of violent acts.

I pointed out a woman’s issue and I had some scrote try to come at me with “what about the boys?!?!” And I mean I only made a little comment and this sad excuse came at me with PARAGRAPHS. I simply pointed this out, that men only talk about other men just to silence women.

Preach this is so true!!!! Whenever men do things like this to me, I say. "So right now I'm talking about my concerns. When we are done discussing that we can talk about yours, as it's counterintuitive to talk about seperate issues at the same time. Thanks for your understanding." If they do talk about whatever topic they interrupted with (which many don't as it's usually used to deflect) after I talk about my concerns, I make sure they are accountable for what they say. 🙃 So take for example, if they interrupted with "men experience violence" then I will say "I know, it's awful." Then proceed to ask questions like "What are the stats on that?" "How can people help men that experienced violence?" Are there organizations and shelters that help men?" "What are you doing to combat violence against men?" Surely if men are interrupting with a topic, they will be knowledgeable and can offer me more information, correct? Then whenever that topic comes up in conversation with other people I will make sure to mention them (because they are so knowledgable on the subject) so they can speak about it. 🙂 Then they can learn to watch what they say, as they will be accountable for it. 🙂 Funny how most men don't know a thing about whatever topic they are interrupting with. 🙂

Violence towards women and violence towards men are the same issue. Both men and women are primarily victimized by men.

There is one issue: men are being violent. This is what needs to be addressed. Why are men more prone to violence? How can we stop this?

Instead these issues are always raised like the victim being victimized is the main problem. Nobody talks about how men being violent is the problem. They talk about how women being hurt by violence is the problem, like they don't know how it's happening and it's just something that magically and spontaneously happens to women.

It's like complaining about your yard having too many holes in it instead of complaining about how your dog is digging holes in your yard. We will never fix these issues if we keep pussy footing around the root of the issue.
