I´m very much CF and I had my tubal before meeting my fiance. On our first date we talked about kids and how much we dont want them. A few dates later we talked about birth control and he told me that he is seeking a vasectomie (I hadn´t told him about my tubal back then) and it should be done in the next few weeks. I then told him about my tubal and he was very happy, because then he knew I was really serious about being CF. He stil got the snip, better safe then sorry he said.

Even in my teenage years, I’ve had males ask me, to take birth control because they didn’t like wearing condoms.

Birth control has many side effects and I wasn’t gonna stress over taking pills and take all the blame if I ended up pregnant, so I always said no

and they always tried to push my boundaries, some even compared me to their exes, claiming that they all agreed to take birth control and blah blah blah

males put themselves first, always. if you don’t care about their pleasure you will be painted as the bad guy

but when a woman asks her partner to get a vasectomy, they act like it’s a crime, a violation, and are shocked that she even suggested it

the majority of women are scared to ask their partners because deep down they know they would lose their shit. even if him getting a vasectomy is safer and more practical. his feelings and pleasure come first

Did you guys see that Reddit post by a man who married young and had 3 kids with his wife then made her get a tubal ligation because they didn't want any more kids, and he's "scared" of needles or whatever BS so couldn't get a vasectomy, then said he's actually never loved her and just settled. So now he wants to divorce her. I guarantee the real reason he didn't want a vasectomy is so he can leave her and start a new family and life with another woman.

Not to mention a TL is basically totally irreversible but a vasectomy can often be revised if the situation changes. Dr Youn takes NO prisoners!

I appreciate the sentiment but stories like this and of other stories online about lying partners means you still need to vet that they got it.

If you're very CF and medically/financially able to, I recommend seeking out a tubal or bisalp.

There's no excuses. If he's got anxiety about it they can put him under general anesthesia.

All the men I know who have had vasectomies said recovery was a long weekend on the couch. Complete recovery from my tubal (bilateral salpingectomy) took a full two weeks.

One part of my job involves asking men and women about contraception use. I remember a 60+ year old man who proudly told me he'd "been to the vet" after his youngest was born. He told me his wife had born several children and had taken the pill in-between. So, in his mind, this was the least he could do.

Ladies, don't settle for anything less.

Also, once you have a tubectomy/hysterectomy, you produce lower and lower oestrogen and you get osteoporosis sooner.

This was a pre-marriage conversation I had with my ex-husband. Neither of us wanted kids (would not have gotten married if we didn't both know this beforehand) so permanent sterilization seemed an obvious choice (staying on hormonal birth control essentially forever is not good for you — in about 50 ways). I said, "Well, I could either get major surgery or you could basically have a minor office visit." He didn't even hesitate, and it was done and healed before our wedding day.

He wasn't shy about telling his friends — in fact, I think he was kind of bragging on it, like "listen to what I did so I never again have to worry about 'oopsies.'" He was as boggled as I was at how absolutely bizarre some dudes were about it, to say nothing of how ignorant they were about how their own bodies/fertility work. We'd both also heard tales of doctors absolutely grilling patients before elective procedures like this or outright refusing if you didn't already have kids or weren't married or whatever. Find a new doctor.
