What’s scary about this is I have a friend who is a nurse at an OB/GYN office and she says she’s seen men from every race, socioeconomic background, upbringing and religion abandon their children. There’s a myth that only poor, “badly raised” men leave their children but she says some very wealth, put-together men leave. And they abandon their child at higher rates when it’s a girl.

I didn't get left, I left. Same reason. Thinking you married a HVM and then watching them transform into a selfish, entitled LVM while going through a difficult pregnancy will do that to ya. The kid was HIS idea. I'll never get over how clueless he was to my feelings and how overly worried he was about his own. He was so jealous of the baby afterwards too. Jealous of a baby instead of stepping up to be a father. 🤢🤢🤢

So bizarre. If they're struck with anxiety, depression or intense confusion once the baby is born, instead of bolting, how about seeing a damn therapist? And taking care of the baby while your partner recovers even if you feel like shit, are doubting everything, want to run away and don't feel like you love the baby at all? Cause news flash, women do that all the time.

I've heard a lot about men changing after childbirth. Even men who were initially very supportive HV acting. This is a huge fear of mine too. Changing due to desire for attention, due to female body changes, regret, etc. I don't know how you vet for this.

I also once read about a Victoria’s secret model (Candice swanepoel) who was left by her boyfriend of 10 years after giving him 2 kids, because she could’ve spend more time with him, add that she was the main provider cause she was a hundred times richer than him plus of being younger and better looking and yet he cheated on her. Now I follow her on insta and you clearly see how she’s more invested in her career and her kids.

This is why you shouldn't have kids until after marriage, he has a lot more to lose if he divorces you.

And it's also bad for kids to have to go through that phase when the parent is constantly dating new people, it just confuses children imo

It is such a scary gamble having children, and it alters our lives forever. Ladies—NEVER settle when it comes to who you have children with! We have the gift of living in a time where most of us (on this board anyway) can be educated, have a career, money, property, birth control, abortion, etc. Use all the prevention in the world until you are SURE you’ve got the right guy and are MARRIED. It is a contract that’ll be sure to hold him legally accountable if he decides to up and leave those kids. Kids are not AT ALL like pets—it is a constant daily grind (of love , I promise 😆)for decades—you WILL need support for your own sanity and to be able to reach any further goals. I saw the quote here before, and I’m probably gonna butcher it in retelling, but it was something like “give your kids the gift of a good father”. That takes A LOT of vetting, and if men don’t like it, all you have to do is point out their own dad (or lack thereof) and hopefully the importance will sink in. If not, who cares? As we can see, it’s all on women when shit hits the fan, so we can’t be arsed about some dudes and their feelings.

What... what did he expect when you have two, small kids? What I’m concerned about is having to infer that he originally expected the woman to take care of the kids while he probably went off to the bar with his “work friends”. The one not making time is him!!!

Happened to me. It’s alright, I’m 31, on my way to getting my second degree, getting ready to buy my own home too. And he ? Well, he’s living on his parents couch (literally, they have no room for him). Has since for the last 3 years, terribly jealous he could not break me too. I’m just living my best life :) and even with my 2 children I have absolutely no shortage of men trying to date me. I’m too busy building my own though. Wear your crowns high and shiny my beauties.
