In my experience, most men require women to meet a standard definition of femininity in order for them to be able to feel masculine. They don’t derive their masculinity from within, they define it in juxtaposition to “womanly” women around them and how those women build them up and make them feel better about themselves. Especially the men who fixate on “alphas” and “betas” or others femininity, because no truly “alpha” (I hate that term because of how they use it but you know what I mean) man needs anything external to make him the way he is. He just is.

I am not overly feminine in the ways that men like that need to feel better about themselves so I’m very familiar with the bs these guys spew to try to pin us back in a non-threatening corner, it’s kind of funny watching dudes like this try to walk it back as we start taking “intimidating” as a compliment. “You’re not big and scary, you’re actually just manly...” Go mark a tree to try to scare other losers away, my dude.

Have ya'll seen that one thread on askmen about why men hate the romance genre?

They all said they hate it because romance is "work". This lead to someone leaving a heavily gilded and supported comment about the male romantic fantasy:

I'd say that men usually feel most loved when this normal state of affairs is negated; when they are made to believe that a woman's love is not conditional in the cause-and-effect manner described in the parent post. Love is work for men, but it can be rewarding work when things are going smoothly and the woman is happy as a result. But the male romantic fantasy is to be shown that the woman feels the same way and stands by him when he's down on his luck, when the money's not there, or when he's not feeling confident. He wants to know that the love he believes he's earned will stay even when the actions that feed it wane (however temporarily). A good woman can often lift a man up in his times of need and desperation and weather the storm even when things aren't going well. The male romantic fantasy is an enduring and unconditional love that seems to defy this relationship of labor and reward. An interesting way to examine this is to look at what women often call romantic entitlement. An entitled guy is a dude who maintains an unrealistic notion of men's typically active role in love. Before acknowledging reality, this boy uncompromisingly believes that he shouldn't have to do anything or change anything about himself to earn a woman's love; he wants to be loved for who he is, not what he does.

All men secretly want this, but there comes a day when they eventually compromise out of necessity. After that day, they may spend years honing themselves, working, shaping themselves into the men they believe women want to be chosen by. A massive part of what causes boys to "grow up" is the realization that being loved requires hard work. This impetus begins a journey where a boy grows into a man by gaining strength, knowledge, resources, and wisdom. The harsh realities of the world might harden and change him into a person his boyhood self wouldn't recognize. He might adopt viewpoints he doesn't agree with, transgress his personal boundaries, or commit acts he previously thought himself incapable of. But ultimately, the goal is to feel as if his work is done.

When he can finally let go of the crank he continually turns day after day in order to earn love and, even if only for a moment, it turns by itself to nourish him in return, that is when he will know he is loved.

There you have it. Confirmed. Men just want mommies they can bang.

As if women don't have to work on and improve themselves to become someone they'd find attractive in the first place. Ugh

edit: I've been thinking about this more and I think this line

Is really telling. In a situation where a man treats a woman like a prize, he sees it as: that man doing something in order to be loved. Rather than a a hardworking, thoughtful, and affectionate man treating the woman he loves how he treats all the people he loves: in a caring and generous way. She does love him for who he is, he is a hardworking, thoughtful and affectionate man. It's as if OP thinks men only buy their SOs flowers to get something in return, not because they just loves her and want her to be happy. That is not labor.

Does he even know what love is?

Feminine energy isn't "soft, nurturing". Feminine energy is bringing life into the world in a storm of blood and pain and screaming. It's killing anyone who wants to hurt your children. It's the forest fire that clears the old and dead for new growth. It's preparing dead bodies for the funeral pyre. It's being a conduit for the life/death cycle. Nurturing new life is only a tiny part of a much larger picture and it keeps women trapped in a small part of their life cycle and true power, makes us afraid to age and grow wise and utilize our anger.

This one is kind of hard for me to read :( I don’t even feel better from the swipe. I can’t be in my feminine energy because I do not feel safe. I have thought so much about this over the past year. I don’t feel comfortable even dancing in public, dressing sexy, or anything. I don’t even feel like I can relax in most situations out of fear. It’s gotten worse for me over time. I was raped when I was a teenager and everytime I drink at a bar or something someone tries to take advantage of me. I can’t even drink. I can’t even go on OLD and feel relaxed. I have to be on guard for all the LVM and screen them. I can’t even just meet men in person and not worry. I meet so many creeps. I literally cannot relax into my feminine energy at all. It’s not even just around men. I can’t even relax around women because people will bully be so easily and i have to present a strong posture and assertive tone to prevent it. I know it makes me way less attractive but I just can’t. It’s hard to read this guys post. I do think he is 100% a LVM but still it hurts. I hate LVM. LV strangers on the Internet still find a way to bring women down and make us feel bad about ourselves. Fuck him

Sure, marry a guy, bring home money, clean the house, cook the food and have his children. Do 90% of the child-rearing in addition to everything else. Be as nurturing as you can be. Then he'll turn around and call you a boring, fat old mother hen and fuck the first Pickmeisha he can find when he turns 42. What's the fucking point? I'm not gentle and nurturing. I've always been sarcastic, critical and ambitious. If a guy doesn't like that he can take a hike, I'm not changing shit.

I have been told by some guy before that I am intimidating. My response to that was, "if you're intimidated by me, that's a problem you need to fix for yourself. Build some self-confidence and stop worrying what I think about you all the time. What do you want me to do, completely change who I am to assuage your feelings? You're a 23 year old man."
