God I love her response! Reminds me when I finally escaped my abusive hs boyfriend. Whenever I would try and break up with him, he would threaten to kill himself. I took him back every time. Until the time I didn’t.
I was driving (obviously. Scrote didn’t have a licence) somewhere on a busy 6 lane highway with him in the passenger seat. We were arguing about our relationship and he says to me while he’s basically throwing a toddler equivalent to a temper tantrum, “if you want to end it, just fucking end it and I’ll jump out of this fucking car on this fucking highway and just fucking kill myself!” Then he unsuccessfully tried to grab my steering wheel to make us crash. I just looked straight ahead, staying focused on the road, completely stoic and just unlocked his door with the power locks on my side and said “let me get that for you then”. I’ve never seen alligator tears disappear so quickly. It was the first time I stood up to him. I drove him to his friends house and dropped him off at the driveway and told him not to contact me or I’d call the police and report him for everything he’d done to me over the last 4-5 years. I drove away looking at him in my rear view mirror. Life was good again.

I had a guy tell me I didn’t need to worry about him anymore, after I broke up with him. He had a past suicide attempt where he had been hospitalized that I knew about. He blocked me after dropping his extremely thinly veiled hint.

So I sent paramedics to his front door. I was in Illinois, he was in New York City. Then, after I knew he was in their hands and ok (he told the doctor to call me) I blocked him.

:/ She should call the ambulance or police to do a welfare check (depending on country) and his family/friends. You never know with some people, he might be serious. Personally I feel suicide threats should always be taken as if they were serious, just in case.

Regardless of whether he's serious or not, the answer isn't staying with them and doing whatever they want. In both scenarios the best thing would be to alert someone of the situation.
