That's the issue. My 8 year old nephew can use a stove to make a grilled cheese. Neuro-typical adults CAN cook. There is absolutely no disability or restriction preventing them from youtubing how to cook literally any food on the face of the Earth. These men DON'T cook. And people need to point that out.

No you DONT cook because you choose not to find a way to learn how.

Some 25 year old man told me he can't cook and that his mom always cooks for him, he's also unemployed with no degree (not sure he even has HS diploma..when i asked he said "i think i do" what do you mean you think? everyone knows if they graduated HS or not so i assume he didn't). He got upset when i refused to go on a beach date and also expected me to come his way (he lives 2 hours away from me by train), hell nah.

Omg i do see this quite a bit in that age. I really have to wonder why the parents don't teach them anything?
Let's say age 10 to 18. That's 8 years to learn how to take care of yourself. Make the bed, do laundry, cook some basic things.
Then at 25, they're still like a kid. No life skills, no education, lives with parents, does nothing at all. It's bizarre. What happened?

Exactly, when i was 16 i already knew how to cook basic stuff (pancakes, different variations of eggs, pasta, rice, different variations of chicken) and when i was 18 i knew how to cook properly and even ethnic food.
My parents taught me and my siblings how to cook regardless of gender! how do some men take pride in "not knowing how to cook"?!

I have a 5 year old nephew and when he comes to my house I’ll have him help me bake, do laundry or vacuum. And as he gets older I’ll have him help with cooking on the stove.
I want to do my part in making sure he has basic life skills when he grows up. So he doesn’t end up being like these “I can’t cook” guys.

My 7yo is autistic and has a neurodisability that affects movement/coordination. He can make a sandwich & folds his own laundry. When he’s 8 I plan to teach him how to boil an egg and use the toaster. My 5yo is neurotypical, he can clean a surface and wash dishes. To them it’s fun and they want to help out. It starts from now...there’s no excuse to not introduce basic life skills in childhood

I work in a male dominated space. Not a single one of them cooks! The ones that still live with family, will have their mommy cook for them, those who live alone spend a big chunk of their paycheck on fast food delivery that are often being delivered from across the street.
Lol the main joke is, they often talk about their ridiculous standards, whilst they can’t make a sandwich without messing it up.

I cooked for my ex all the time and made him sandwiches for work (he worked in retail)...he always complained about how his mom is a better cook so eventually i stopped making him food and he complained about how i no longer care about him and how he misses my food.

It was less about the sandwiches and more about cooking, he didn't like ethnic food that much so i cooked basic stuff like fried chicken, pasta, rice, etc.
I even asked his mom for the recipe but she wouldn't give it to me since she disliked me!

She def did not like me, i was of a different ethnicity and religion than them. I'm a minority in my country and a daughter of legal immigrants and it bothered her though she was not religious at all!
She always threw stereotypes asking if my parents work in X jobs (bad immigrant jobs, of course) though my parents are educated and both went to university. She was devastated to hear that my immigrant mom works in the same job as her and that my mom gets paid more than her.
But she was very controlling and acted as if he is a teenager and wouldn't even let him go out and see his friends and ask him to be home by 10PM (our country is VERY safe for men but not safe at all for women due to r*pe statistics).

Mine would sit in my room playing xbox and practically ignoring me while I went and bought ingredients or snacks for him, and prepared and served him meals (or takeout when I was too tired to cook.) I cleaned up afterwards too of course. It didn’t start out like this, but fell into this routine because I was a desperate little pickmeisha and he was very happy with this arrangement.

They literally buy takeout. Have a 35 year old LVM coworker (who frequently joked about him paying me to cook extra and bring him lunch pre quarantine - yuck!) who complains about how much money he spends eating takeout. He says it like this situation he has no power to change, it's pathetic.
There was a post on r/AITA last week about a guy complaining that his gf is sick of him buying takeout or making microwave meals when it's his turn to provide dinner. He said he didn't see the problem even though she is a great cook when it's her turn. Also it's just what he would feed himself if he didn't have her LOL. Luckily, everyone rightfully roasted him and told him to figure it tf out.

They eat out a lot, and when they don’t, they eat sandwiches and instant noodles, yeah.
I’ve dated the “guy who cooks” and it’s worse though. They expect applause and will only cook with their special fancy ingredients and for an audience. The everyday, thankless cooking still falls on the woman. She has to budget and work with what’s in the house (I call this “mom cooking”). Then he’ll have the audacity to tell people he’s the cook in the family.
There are men who know how to cook who aren’t like this either. They will do everyday normal cooking and recognize it’s just a regular adult task. The difference is they don’t brag about it as if it makes them special.

I dated a man like this too. Trash. He wanted to cook tuna steaks on his stupid new charcoal grill. I offered to cook them because I wanted mine strictly seared. I found a recipe to use. He literally only knew how to make tuna salad and chicken cutlets. Lived off takeout and fast food, and the other days he'd go to his mom's place and she would cook for him.

My ex could cook but expected me to do it because he was too important. Or if I wasn’t there he would cook and then not clean up after it and leave dirty pots on the stove literally until mold grew waiting for me to come clean up after him. He also had a cleaning lady that he fired when we moved in together and then told me it was my job to keep the house clean. Also before me he would take his laundry to wash dry and fold but once we got together he expected me to do that service for him. He also actually would call me mom sometimes. He was a weird guy. So glad we broke up.

It's absolutely true that part of why older men prey on significantly younger women isn't because they are oh so more attractive but because they are literally just sort of stupid (like most 20somethings) and have less experience at living. They are by definition easy to manipulate and easy to please. Because they are only just getting used to paying their own taxes, any level of mastery of adulthood displayed by a middle aged man--even one on multiple bankruptcies, divorces, children, addictions, whatever--seem like this worldly catch of accomplishment who recognizes you for being ever so mature for you age.
It's one of my disqualifying factors for men in all possible relationship roles--if they are for example in their 30s and think anyone who isn't at least late twenties really has something to offer them and things in common, they can't sit with me. Dudes will lower their own standards for women in terms of looks and education, personality, independence, sanity to play the numbers game and congratulate themselves for being players. They will pat themselves on the back for tricking people they believed were stupid and vulnerable from the beginning--there isn't a way to read that that says anything positive about them. They are proud of wasting everyone's time including their own. Meanwhile, respectable men want to find impressive and respectable & and it makes them feel good that they were able to capture the attention and affection of such a great woman.
I swear--the dude I wrote about in a post recently who's also in his 40s and has a 20something baby momma he treats like crap--she had to leave for a week or two for a work thing a while back and he drove two states away to have her parents take care of the infant because he didn't want to have to do it alone. EMBARRASSING.

Roommate guys:
One would make these elaborate meals but leave the kitchen a wreck i mean how he managed to spill so much on the floor and get most pans dirty, ill never know.
Another would bring home a different foreign student most nights. Hed cook steak and eggs for them in the morning. They probably thought he was unique. Nope. Had the same routine for each one. Other times hed eat frozen dinners.
Men are very good at burning pans. For some reason, they turn the gas burner on high and leave it.

Just yesterday i saw a post saying something like "cooking is incomplete without cleaning the kitchen afterwards, tell your man that" and some woman was like "no, till now all these feminists wanted men to cook and now they want them to clean too?!!! First we should 'get them' to cook by appreciating them, it should be done one by one".. And FYI all the likes she got were from men.
