Yes. We absolutely recommend full STD testing before having sex with someone once commitment is made and you are comfortable with the idea of having sex with them. Also make sure that you go with him to the clinic to get tested and see the results firsthand. Unfortunately there is a lot of scamming going on with these lvm using a picture of a test they got off the internet and changing the name and date. So don't trust just a picture.

I noticed that was missing from the handbook as well! I personally would not have sex with someone unless I am 100% sure they don’t have an STI. I feel like papers can be easily forged and people lie, so to be totally sure, I tell partners that if we’re going to have sex then we’ll be getting tested together.

I found this to go over pretty well. Unfortunately, I didn’t ask this of my first boyfriend because we were each other’s first and had been together for over a year when we finally had sex. If you’re in a situation like that, I’d say still get tested together. People can be born with STIs and people can definitely lie about having had sex before. The two partners I had after that were happy to agree to get tested. We went to planned parenthood together and it was a positive experience. It was easy, affordable and put my mind at ease.

Women should always go to the doctors as a couple, and get an STI test. You go as a couple because you need to know he did it, when he did it, and if he actually did it. Never trust the trickery of a man, they may mock up a fake one. Also HIV will not show up right away in some cases. Never have raw sex right away in a new relationship. And you should get one a month after having sex, this is just in case. HIV will definitely show up a month after. My advice is to always us protection, boyfriends are not obligated to raw sex (def new boyfriend). You never want to have a oops baby with a boyfriend.

A test is obviously great, but I feel like that would also be used as an excuse by men to be pressuring us into unprotected sex, and I don’t like that idea AT ALL.

If my bf (since I ain't spreading my legs for no one but a serious bf) wants to fuck without protection, he has to show me a recent test aka not older than 1 week. Including testing for Herpes, syphilis, aids/HIV, gonorrhea and all the other important ones, of course. I do want to use condoms before I ovulate, during ovulation and 7 days after. So I only do bare sex for +-1,5 weeks (I use an app for that!).

I always test with them, I think that's fair. Never had an STI.

If there's ANY push back on getting tested, I would drop that dude on the curb for Monday's garbage pickup. And I mean anything. If they play dumb and say, "why do you want me to, I don't have any symptoms" or "I did it after my last gf and was clean" or literally anything. Frankly, if they are the ones trying to get you to have sex but they don't take it upon themselves to be safe about it and start this conversation with you, that's LVM shit.

Dude yes I used to be dumb and only just ask them.

The reason I stopped "just asking" and actually asked for physical proof (not an online version) is that 1 of them lied to me and said the health center only gave him a physical copy. LIES, I went to the same damn health center and you can log in and access your health results at any time.

For my last partner, who was also a garbage can, I waited to do anything till he got tested.

You can get home screening kits but the ones that include herpes are VERY expensive.

Most Planned Parenthoods test for free once a month but it's walk-in only and doesn't include herpes unless symptoms are showing.

Instant home tests for HIV are sold at pharmacies and last I checked they were like $50.

I've heard there's a huge problem with doctors giving false positives for herpes when diagnosing cases of BV.

I think some sort of condom underwear is on the market for protection against HPV but let's be real, men aren't gonna actually wear them.

YES!!! i had a two year relationship with a guy who had one partner before me. i thought okay, we're serious, i don't need a test. well, i caught hpv from him and had abnormal cells at 20. been on frequent monitoring and testing for two years now to make sure it won't develop into cancer or anything bad. not how i planned to spend my early 20s.

GET TESTED SISTERS. if he refuses, dump him without hesitation. no man is ever worth risking your health.

You should also ask when he last got tested and ask to see the actual papers, don't settle for a picture because there's sociopaths out there who will make shit up. My mom knows a woman whose son in law created fake divorce papers to fool his not one, but TWO girlfriends. So yeah, always ask and get tested at least yearly. If you're seeing a guy make sure he gets tested yearly too and shares results. This also helps you not freak out if you get what turns out to be a false positive and your bf/husband is the only one you're sleeping with
