I must be doing these apps wrong, no one ever assumes I'm going to cook for them. It's all just "hey" or "do u have roommates lol."

I'm going to start asking men what they're going to cook for me.

I get it as well! I usually redirect it on them and ask them what they like to cook - if they can't, or admit to relying on UberEats, I usually just block and delete.

I don't cook for straight men that I'm not related to - and my relatives only get a pass because they're decent dudes.

My son sometimes asks me for dinner. I usually say something like bread with tears or passive-aggressive sighs. (We take turns cooking and sometimes he figures out his own meals, but i don't want him thinking it is a woman's role to cook for a man and be so excited/honored to do it).

I had some guy ask for cookies that I mentioned baking. As if he was entitled to my cookies.

No way I'm showing up to a first date with my freshly baked cookies. That's crazy. I plan on eating those cookies.

I don't cook. I have survival skills and won't starve if I don't have someone else cooking for me, but I have a very demanding life and don't particularly enjoy cooking. I have the financial means to get take out (usually something vegan and healthy) or I'll arrange my own salads, but that's about it. Once a month I'll maybe make a proper meal for myself. After a roach problem in my apartment, I cook even less now.

I'm perfectly fine with living my life like this, but it's ridiculous how men still expect women to cook for them. Luckily none of the guys I dated seemed to take an issue with it, but they were surprised when I told them I don't like cooking.

Girl, I have had the same experience. Years of LVM in my 20s. Since finding FDS I have dialed back the pickme stuff and, while I won't call a guy I'm seeing HVM yet, I will say that yesterday when I sent him a photo of my brunch, swooning over how good it was, he vowed that he'd recreate it for me even better. I've never even invited him into my house, yet alone offered to cook. The last time we went out, HE packed the picnic. They really are out there, I guess we just have to be picky!

The audacity of these men! I didn't run into this problem much when I was OLD, but I have had guys ask me to go to their place to cook for me. I never went.

Maybe we should start asking them "What kind of house/car would you buy me?"
