Even when you know they are LVM and would only subtract from your life. Even when you are out of their league* — so far out, you can barely see them? It’s just still the question, I guess, of why someone would pass on me. Especially someone who isn’t necessarily where they want to be in life.

I know it’s better it’s not happening because he truly would be a drag to me and I would be embarrassed to introduce him to my colleagues and friends. It still hurts though.

I’m reading “Rodham” by Curtis Sittenfeld right now. It’s essentially Hillary Clinton’s story, but if she met and chose not to marry Bill. It’s really good, and at one point, she’s talking to her college roommates while they’re in college. She says I guess I always hoped a man would fall in love with me for my brain.

Her roommate says, oh Hillary. We all know a man doesn’t fall in love with a woman’s brain. And although I already knew the truth of that statement, reading it and seeing it just made me feel it 10x more. And I hate it.

I’m just feeling so torn lately about what I want. I do want to share this life with someone but it’s so much work to find them. The people I’m attracted to always seem to be LVM and/or aren’t interested in me, because I have a career, set boundaries, don’t have raw sex, etc. and if I find them, can I trust them? And forever? Seems like a lot to ask.

This is part rant, part discussion I suppose. I’ve read so many other posts here that have asked similar questions. I just can’t figure out why it still hurts when I know in a year or two I’ll be further along in my career and he will be at the exact same place in his life.

Thanks for being here and for any/all advice.
