Had a dinner with colleagues. One guy mentions how he got catfished the other night by a woman he met on a dating app. He explains that the woman looked thinner in her profile pics but in real life, she was “fat”. He then remarks “at least she paid half of the bill.”

Ding ding ding! My FDS alarm sirens and bells are going off in my head. What does his statement mean? “At LEAST”?? Let’s break it down here.

This guy essentially felt like his date was not “worth” spending his money on because he wasn’t physically attracted to her. When he emphasizes “at LEAST she paid half the bill”, he is outright saying that he would’ve been remorseful if he had to spend money on a woman he didn’t find attractive.

Moral of story: NEVER offer to pay or pay at all.

Poor woman probably offered to pay because she is insecure/unconfident and must’ve felt that he was being cold towards her. She mistakenly believed that paying half the bill would salvage the date. She is WRONG. He ended up ghosting her after that. Don’t be this woman, ladies.
