Read about some of the things that have happened in Australia with this. Men raping the women they met up with, and the COMPANIES still keeping the info of the rapists private. The men would create brand new profiles making it hard to track them and even then, the OLD companies wouldn't help to further the search for them. There is still a lot of grey area with privacy and OLD.

Remember, no matter how normalized this shit seems, with OLD you are still meeting up with total STRANGER men from the internet. Stranger danger, anyone? When you look at it that way, you realize how fucking crazy it is to normalize OLD as a woman, but wow does it work out great for men, right?

Remember how it was a bad thing to meet up with strangers from the internet and how we were told to never do it when the internet started to become more social? And now this is how we DATE???

It doesn't make sense at all to me to do this. Further than that, it makes sense that it gives men a nefarious playground to act like shit while women are really on there looking for love and willingly serving themselves up to these dudes.

It's not a joke anymore. This shit is crazy.

There is so much concern about “ruining their reputation” that needs to end. I know of a situation local to me, where rape and drugging of a 13yo girl was involved. Boy was also a minor and got off with a slap on the wrist and a sealed record. In my state if you are 14 or younger YOU CANNOT LEGALLY CONSENT. So this incident should have involved a felony conviction and years of prison for one and years of therapy for the other. But alas, his “reputation”. 🤬

Plus the amount of women I know who were assaulted as teens by step dads, friends fathers, brothers friends is HORRIFYING. AND typically never reported.

100%. It’s definitely not safe especially if you don’t take the right precautions. I still think it’s not safe in general, but that’s my opinion. I think online dating is WAYYYY more dangerous for women. For example, I wasn’t online dating, but I met a “friend” online in person and he coerced, assaulted, and groomed me. I was 20 and he was 32. Predator alert. I also hooked up with a guy who cam in the condom TWICE without my consent and or knowledge. I spoke to him about my concern, and he told me he didn’t want to talk about this because he had work the next day. 90% of men just want an easy fuck meeting people online. I didn’t even meet these guys on OLD, but on social media. After these experiences, I advise women to stay away from making online friends and potential online partners. I don’t recommend meeting online friends or potential partners. It’s too risky. Catfishing, scammers, predators, assaulters, killers, etc. The list goes on and on. Please do not meet men or people from online in general!!! I am never ever doing it again after my horrid experiences

Wow this was so horrible. I'm sorry this happened to her. This is why I'm not comfortable with meeting men on OLD.

I've played around with it and talked to men online but I've yet to meet anyone irl. Yes, it's possible that there are HVM on OLD, but I can't help but feel like a disproportionate of men are on OLD as they want free sex, want to sexually assault women, or have some deal breaker preventing them from finding an SO irl.

As someone who is young but “adult” I always hoped/thought adults were more evil bc of creeps I dealt with in the past. But young people can also be so cruel…? Ugh… saddening.

This isn't the point I know. The whole thing is sickening and infuriating. One takeaway is to never leave an open drink for even a second when on a date with an unknown person or in a club. I don't know if drugs can be added to food but ditto if yes. Once she was incapacitated that was it -- she couldn't yell or fight back. The other early red flag was that he showed up with a friend aka rapist buddy. At that point end the date immediately, go to the lobby and stand near someone, and call for a ride.

None of this is her fault; at the same time I am offering precautions on how to shut down the violence.
