Dude I just really feel bad what’s going to happen to little boys in the future. They are literally being fed such bad narrative about men. There is no motivation or encouragement for boys nowadays, only discouragement and lessons of ‘men bad, all men rapists, all men abusers’ on social media. Social media has a drastic effect on young brains. Tiktok doing anti-men trneds, twitter and reddit also doing these for ages now. They are being made feel guilty of being male slowly and steadily, being told bs like their only responsibility is to behave as women want and deem comfortable. Like wtf. How will they even understand mens issues this way or even be functional adults?

These will be awesome but men participating in this initiative need to be ready for radical feminists trying to hijack the hashtag trying to change its meaning, as always, to dehumanize men.

For these reasons, the first twits we need to send and massively like should be against reverse rethoric, like:

MenAreHuman and people using this hashtag to attack men just proves how necessary is to combat ongoing misandy that dehumanize men

Or

Attacking men using the hashtag #MenAreHuman is the same as doing racist attacks using #BLM, only hateful people could be capable of doing such a thing

And similar stuff...

I've already seen the slogan "men are human" on twitter (there is someone with that handle) and I find it really good. The simplicity is it's strength.

Apparently WomenAreHuman is a well-known TERF website, so we should be careful that we don't come off as essentialist and anti-trans in our messaging.

I've seen literally dozens of stories of trans men sharing how this kind of misandry hurts them, and we shouldn't exclude them.

I can already imagine the responses from RadFeminists:

"Men are human. They rape and murder women at unimaginative rates. But no ones perfect ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. #MenAreTrash"

This isn't an actual tweet, just a hypothetical tweet that I made up. But I guarantee that similar tweets to that will pop up from a bunch of people who will intentionally misunderstand what #MenAreHuman is meant to stand for.

What would be a response to that kind of tweet?

I worry that the timing of this makes it difficult for it to gain traction. Anything will be seen as men attempting to centre themselves in the wake of the murder of Sarah Evrard and the resulting campaigns telling men to protect women. I can only envisage people seeing this as men not wanting to take "responsibility" and prioritising their hurt feelings, rather than what it actually is.

I commend this, I do, but I don't trust people to be sympathetic with men at the best of times, let alone now

I know the hashtag discussion is over but I've been thinking about #TooManyMen and #RealSexism as good hashtags for the men's movement.

The later might be a bit off the mark if it implies women don't experience sexism. But I remember the website and tumblr by that name used to be pretty influential. I'd present it more along the lines of "manspreading isn't real sexism, but the family court bias is".

#TooManyMen are expected to be providers
#TooManyMen lose custody of their children
#TooManyMen get shafted in a divorce
#TooManyMen are attacked for wanting a prenup
1 in 3 men are victims of domestic violence. That is #TooManyMen.
1 in 6 men are victims of sexual assault (around 80% by women, not by "other men"). That is #TooManyMen.
1 in 7 men are victims of false allegations. That is #TooManyMen. #MenAreHuman

Instead of focusing on the negative aspects of men's health nd mentality why not focus on the positive? For instance having a week where the subjects are mental illness, depression, etc isn't a wellness week, it's a sickness week

I don't think the hashtag is good. It sounds MRA and defensive; akin to "not all men". Ideally, it would be completely free of that tenor so as to not bias anyone against it.

So you're clearly just looking for an internet fight, right? You have a solid us vs them mentality, and all it this is going to do is entrench people further into whatever camp they were already in.

If you want to actually do anything to benefit men, you have to come at it from the lens of "hey, I understand and see your pain, but when you show it this way it's hurting people that you probably didn't intend to hurt. Let's try to cooperate to find solutions that benefit everyone!". Instead it really seems like you're coming at it from the perspective of trying to prove that feminists are stupid or evil.

This doesn't work, and basically just serves as fuel for the man hate you're trying to take down. If you approach this from a kind and considerate perspective, there's a chance you can actually change people's minds. If you approach it from a perspective of winning an internet argument, all you're going to end up doing is getting people to dig their heels in deeper to whatever they already believed.
