No. No. No. No. No.

Men need to stop being shut up and start being listened to.

[–]reddut_gang 160 points161 points162 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Listen to what? Listen to incoherent rambling about a pay gap that's been debunked countless times? I don't know why it's so difficult to understand that different professions have different wages.

[–]ghostslikme 54 points55 points56 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yea the only gap is between people who raised children full time for years and those who didn’t. It’s not between men and women. But somehow people expect to take some number of years off from the work force and then go back to making the same amount as someone who was working the whole time.

[–]themolestedsliver 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Preach. Why should we have to listen to slurs they made about men so they can't use terms like "sexist" and "institutional discrimination"?

They pretend we live in some crazy patriarchy and yet in most western countries being a women is just objectively better.

Yet not being able to walk alone late at night (something I never felt safe to do) is a sign women live as oppressed second class citizens.

The ignorant dogma and shame in regards to people who don't mindlessly agree disgusts me to my core.

[–]Sudden_Example_2177 82 points83 points84 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

What an absolute asshole.

[–]aitaaccount10988 18 points19 points20 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

To be fair if he said anything else the mob would lynch him like they do to any celebrity not fitting their narrative, just look at JK Rowling she says one thing and now she’s got a bad rep.Plus if Cumberbatch did get into some deep shit he could be fired and it would cost Marvel their money if he wasn’t.

Still a stupid thing to say though.

[–]MehowSri 20 points21 points22 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

He could just have done, what he proposed:

No, we just have to shut up and listen.

Instead he didn't shut up and said something stupid.

[–]mikesteane 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Same with top politicians sacking men below them to have more women in cabinet, but never standing down themselves.

[–]MehowSri 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Absolutely. All the damn idiots who say, "We don't have enough women in top positions. We need quotas." and are in top positions themselves should vacate their seats. But no, they know full well that they have already achieved everything that was within their reach and are now generously sacrificing the chances of the men who follow them.

[–]aitaaccount10988 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True

[–]Rol9x 25 points26 points27 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

He's just parroting the propaganda points. Men do not need to shut up. As a matter of fact, the social consensus is built on the contribution on every part of society and, of course, the stronger the voice, the more input into that consensus. The propaganda is not naive: if men's voices are silent, the consensus will overlook their issues and focus more on other issues, which, in turn, will make men issues even worse.

Celebrities are ignorant of these issues most of the time. Their agents tell them to just pick an issue to project a positive image to their fans because nobody likes a celebrity with loads of money and an asshole attitude. It's more of a spin for their careers! So they try to support different causes to feel good about themselves and convince the others that they really are good.

I'm looking into my crystal ball and it seems to be showing the backers of this film blaming their huge losses on the unwillingness of men to pay their hard-earned money to go and be preached at. Then it shows us all laughing at them.

[–]Jolt_Ready_95 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Cumberbatch says toxic masculinity should start to be looked at like a mental health issue and corrected from an early age.

Nice. Teach boys to force themselves to live the so called 'toxic' image right from when they start to talk, call them many things if they do anything remotely 'feminine', brag about how they want their future husband to be macho and provide them everything, expect the men to protect them from wild animals, want men to bear 100% of the 'emotional labour' and give them flowers all the time, give men no chance to express themselves and then call it a mental issue. Yes dude, it's men who is responsible for this.

[–]Farseer_Uthiliesh 23 points24 points25 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I stopped paying attention to people who recite lines for a living a long time ago. Sick of celebrity worship. Plus, Cumberbatch can shut the fuck up.

[–]lookingforinsight2 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Seriously. Actors are not only economically useless, but their very work is falsity. They take on a fake persona for their show/film.

[–]snickers1284 40 points41 points42 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

No I think celebrities who pretend for a living need to learn that their opinions are not relevant to those of us that actually work for a living.

Then again if the popular narrative was to hate Muslims I'm sure he would probably say something to that effect. Celebrities like him don't have real nuanced opinions, they just spout out what they think people want to hear so they can keep being overpaid make-believers.

[–]CaptainPrestedge 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Adding that most of it is properly fleshed out but their public relations advisors and they parrot it

[–]PrioriBoston 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Joe Rogan puts it best "there must be something sinister with men who call themselves feminists". In his case it's probably because Hollywood is trying to overcompensate. Just look at the likes of Michael Keaton etc who didn't follow the trends of the time and had his career affected.

Sigh now I have to boycott Dr Strange because of this over priviledged idiot. I guess I'll be a pirate.

[–]nonchalanthuman 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What I hate about this argument is that they act like we are the only ones with behaviours that need changing while women get to just be women.

[–]TracyMorganFreeman 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you're telling one gender to shut up and listen, then you're not an advocate for gender equality.

[–]Vaudeville_Clown 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Sit down, shut up aaaand pay attention to you, I wager?

Oh don't worry little Benedict.. a lot of us free spirited, occassionally reactionary men are quite gentle, fair and reliable in our personal relationships with women (though we tend to be damn selective about who we'll help or support, man or woman). Not that I'd care whether you believe me or not.

We will however oppose all the platforms that make you fat and rich. Your tmz, Sky news, etc. Most of the time it's passive resistance. We don't listen, we don't tune in and we don't pay any entrance ticket. Other times it's active, we rip apart the propaganda coming from media and mainstream society.

That's what truly bothers you and people like you, isn't it? That men are increasingly not paying into your status economy. You're not even "my celebrity". I probably wouldn't recognize you in the streets, while I'd probably spot a podcaster or other alternative celibrities who never set foot inside BBC.

Hurts, doesn't it? Soon now your entire audience will be women, but the media strategy of scaring women and placate to their sensibilities just won't last. Eventually they'll wonder where the boys went and leave also.

We're not underpaying any women, we're underpaying you buddy, money and attention.

[–]mikesteane 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Did you mean to say "overpaying" in the last clause?

[–]Vaudeville_Clown 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nah, I meant it as we're not giving him "our due". Not that we really owe anything to film actors and mainstream elites of course.

There is certainly this sort of lamentation both among actors and old mainstream media outlets, the fact that they have significantly less reach, that "the average man" is no longer a part of the audience.

I mean, I believe a part of the anti-male screed coming from old media establishments and actors is due to that bitterness.

We don't pay, we don't assist making them feel important, and we don't often give a crap about their causes or narratives.

They say mgtow is ineffective, and that may be true regarding intimate relationships, but when applied to checking out of the culture, it seems VERY efficient.

[–]Ok_Research219 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Got married on Valentine’s Day.

Has 3 sons ages 6, 4, and 2. Maybe where his wife got the idea about males not listening, and with her help Benny was enlightened.

[–]universallybanned 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

These guys don't learn. Another idiot I won't be patronizing and he hurts everyone else in the movie with this nonsense because it only hurts sales

[–]Swingstar731 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Can't listen if women don't talk to you.

[–]Yehiaha666 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What are his qualifications to discuss the behavior of men?

Just because somebody is an actor, musician, or sports figure does not mean they're qualified to pontificate the rest of the world.

Feminists: If you want to solve men's problem start your own movement.

men speak up

Feminists: Men need to shut up and listen to women

[–]PrioriBoston 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Only 3 male actors I'd ever listen to....Keannu Reeves, Jim Carey and the late great Robin Williams.

All 3 men have, had gone through hard times and are amazingly enlightened.

Never trust a person who has not experienced hardship, it breeds entitlement.

Even if you’re dumb enough to follow this advice it still isn’t enough. The bottomless pit of wants and needs of women have no end. But god forbid you do anything out of the ordinary or your wants and needs exceed in the slightest higher than your baseline you’re looking to get rekt.

[–]Died_of_a_theory 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What an ignorant fool

[–]darksedan 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good actors are ones that keep variating their performance to get the director's approval. "Take 1 didn't work for you, let me try this in Take 2". The very same actors get paid millions to live in a bubble, isolated from normal people. When they do step out to talk in public like this, they end up saying things that they think the people want to hear, and if it doesn't land, they go "ok let me try this on Take 2"

Stop asking actors questions outside of their work, these guys can convincingly play ordinary people in films but they are not representative of them.

[–]Belmont71 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

This is the same tactic blacks have used in the past five years when they want to control the narrative of race relations. The "shut up and listen" card tends to be played. No surprise that those on the modern day feminist side use it too.

[–]OneWithItAll8 -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Listening to women is for woke idiots. Now isn't time to shut up and listen. It's time to stand up and fight our oppressors.

Just about all men in public roles, actors, politicians, media men, are hired prostitutes by the woke-feminist complex who betray their gender for personal opportunistic gains.

They should all be shunned, boycotted and ignored by all men and their women allies.

Cumberbatch says toxic masculinity should start to be looked at like a mental health issue and corrected from an early age.

Great. More psychological abuse of young boys by doubling down on teaching them they are born defective and should feel shame over it.

And how do we fix toxic femininity?
