Army is just like civilian life. If not worse. Pretty much everywhere. Women mostly want (and get) the posh/pog, risk & hardship free jobs. And when they are barely able to meet the standards, they receive endless praises.

Hi ! Ukrainian- person here. In the whole world, men were always the ones who go to war. Women stay away from the war, women shouldn't die from war. To hey take care of children, but they don't fight. Men fight for their country, for their wife. It always was. And if you want to know, there also are women who fight in Ukraine. But most of them stay at home to take care of the house, of the children, so that the cities don't die socially.

Edit : plus, all the Ukrainian soldiers are going there by themselves. My uncle went day one, he went by himself, and many of his friends did. They are not forced to do it, like in Russia. We just have more respect towards women and let them home.

I must say that you shouldn't say that when you don't know the subject very well. Ukraine always had a society based on respect. Of course women have the same rights than men, but their roles are different, and it always was so in every country...

Interrupting a woman's plans to have a family and steering her into high risk roles at a time of war might be a hit to the population. That would be the case for many conscripted.

I've served with women myself and all militaries should treat them equally - but the woman I served with joined our military willingly. Some had kids. So they joined when it was right for them.

Not when a government with an ideally forced them to join.

To be honest, I’d rather not risk having my wife and/or daughter killed or captured and raped, and I wouldn’t want myself or my son killed either.

However if I were to fight in a war I wouldn’t want a woman next to me in the trenches because they’ll crumble like a fucking crouton. I’d want strong men next to me. Wars will always happen and the side that sends women to the front will lose.

just bc america is drowning in feminism doesn't mean the rest of the world has also lost its mind. women cannot (physically) fight as good as men can. we are less durable and don't react logically in most situations -we primarily react emotionally- which is not suitable for war at all. it's the men who have been fighting at wars throughout history, bc it simple works better this way. moreover, any husband, father, brother or son would want to protect his dear country and even more his beloved wife, daughter, sister and mother, and die for them at any moment. it would, in my opinion, be unnatural if the roles where reversed, and the men had to leave the country and women had fight during their periods, while pregnant, while having to take care of their kids, or being away from their kids and most importantly, being partly untrained. both genders are equal, yet have different responsibilities, depending on their abilities. men have the ability to fight, and women have the ability to help them fight and give them a motive to.

This is not actually true. First of all, the russian conscripts don't go to war, they only use mobilised professionals and volunteers. Second of all, russian army has got a lot of women in the service. Ukraina is different, but it started a huge campaign to convince women to go to war. And they already have some enrolled, but as volunteers.

It seems so archaic to me to try to absolve women of this responsibility and putting the entire burden onto men. Not just because it's trading male lives for women's, directly implying that a woman's life is worth more, but because it's also imposing a burden on men that shouldn't be taken alone.

It would also be disheartening and a complete moral killer to be expected to go die for Ukrainian women while those women are not expected to even so much as fight, nor even provide any type of logistical support, to help those men defend them. Being told you have to die to protect a piece of land and culture, that does not care about you and does not have your best interests at heart, only to watch as the women you live for flee and party it up abroad. That is one very cruel joke.
