Automod banning is pretty common in a lot of subreddits. It's a pretty dumb policy IMHO, but is allowed because 'subreddits can run themselves however they want' according to admins and I guess it can sort out trolls pretty effectively. I've tried to plead my case with mods from these subreddits like "Yo, look at my history, I'm not a douche-bag, incel, anti-feminist, or whatever troll, I just want to participate in this one conversation and share some facts on this particular post's subject." Nope, they love the 'power' that comes with telling people it's their way or the highway since obviously something is lacking IRL in their lives. Better off without anyway because you know 'their' subreddit reeks of being an echo-chamber of mis-information as a result.

Two thoughts come to my mind… 1. I’m American and so capitalism is pretty engrained into my lifestyle despite that I despise much of as I’ve witnessed what it’s done to the state of society. With that established and based on this model, there isn’t anything inherently wrong with the way some subs ban users based on their experience in other subs. Even if Reddit promotes itself as a “public” social media platform (which it isn’t), the mods of any sub are at their full discretion to restrict users assuming they aren’t otherwise breaking any Reddit rules. 2. It doesn’t surprise me in the slightest that this group has been deemed by some other subs as a nest of incels. I’ve witnessed a lot of hate and divisiveness toward women here excused with the classic playground argument, “Well they did it so why can’t I?” Men’s rights is a legitimate topic, and one that everyone here must have some passion for. I’m going to keep preaching it so long as I stay active here - if any of you want to be taken seriously then eventually you must come to the realization that the snap backs are only going to push the rest of society further away from the betterment of men.

You need a separate account for this sub. Reddit is run by a bunch of whiny babies and almost anything can get you a ban for no reason. Simply participating by voting, posting, or commenting and your whole account is flagged.

You can't really blame them. The idea of the game is to get an IPO probably and cash out. For that you need to meet certain social standards or else investment firms won't invest. They aren't in the game of being canceled. Doesn't matter the reasoning, they are in it for money. Don't fault them.

I got banned from there a few years ago for making a funny comment regarding someone's post.i DMed the person and she wasn't offended, but someone complained and I got banned. (I know I commented to a woman, based on the topic.)

I believe that's why r/TrueOffMyChest exists, because people are frequently getting banned from the other sub.

I've said it before, and it triggered a lot of folks, and I'll say it again: Reddit is the left-wing version of FOX News.

I've had my hometown land on r/news and wouldn't you know it, there was LITERALLY not one person who knew what really happened but they all make wild assumptions and because it fit their narrative, they went with it. Just. Like. FOX. News. They are no different. They lack the intellectual capacity to stop and think. This is not the pre-Digg Reddit anymore.

Most are not capable of having a real discussion because it may conflict with their narrative.

For example Martin v Zimmerman. If you look at the actual court documents it paints a wildly different picture than what NBC and CNN fed you - one much more reasonable.

In our case, it's funny. They view us like Andrew Tate but if you point out they are like Triggly Puff they say "but not all feminists are like that!". See how it's a one-sided viewpoint?

My sister will say "men don't know what it's like to be a woman!" but then make wild assumptions about what it's like to be a man. Reddit is no different.

You can't take Reddit seriously. There are many people who feel VERY passionate about a thing but are wildly uneducated or uninformed on it.

People think this is unrelated but I'm finding parallels. Our species used to love gladiators and arenas. Now it's viewed as just misogynistic or some man-hating word or another. You'll find those same people get off to ... name calling and attacking others. It's like they can't escape their desire to hate or be angry but somehow won't acknowledge its existence.

They actively want people in places, like this subreddit, to die. Up until it's their brother, father, husband, or son. Then it's "what could we have done differently?!" - this is just humans being human. They won't care until it affects (effects?) them personally. This is why talks about COVID are so difficult with certain groups of people. Because they don't know what it's like to have the serious side-effects so they'll deny it until it almost kills them.

In this case, they have a fantasy version of what this subreddit is about. The narrative they've been fed. They know they aren't allowed to dispute it so they'll go along with it until one day... someone makes a claim against them and it'll be "wow, I never knew" and we'll have a new convert. Just like the post we saw the other day here. "Gee golly, I didn't know until it happened to ME".

They are no different than the people against the Civil Rights Act. No different than the people who were against interracial marriage and gay marriage. It's just a different coin they don't see yet.

It's important to remember two things:

It's nothing personal. They just don't know any better or are too scared to speak up.
Nothing is stopping you from making a new account. "But the Reddit rules" - fuck'em. No one is going to come to your house to arrest you. VPN's work. If Reddit won't care then you shouldn't. I have a variety accounts for.. similar'ish reasons. Porn and more likely opinions to get me banned (e.g. posting here), techie/programming only stuff (good for open browsing in public), my original ye old account which I don't remember why I left it.

Personally, I avoid some of the mainstream subreddits like r/news because it's never accurate stuff anyways, like I said - it's about as accurate as FOX News, and it's only real benefit are Worldly Events (e.g. Russian invasion of Ukraine, Pope dying, etc). By things that have any level of detail? It's useless.

I tried going to minds.com but it went way too right-wing for my tastes.

I got one of those for commenting on a thread about prostate cancer. I'm high risk due to family history. As a result I keep an eye on men's subs because they have posted relevant health information in the past. After the ban I responded to the mods per that message explaining that the discussion I participated in was related to my own health concerns. I needn't have bothered. No response and the ban stayed. Not that I really care.

yes - i've been autobanned from numerous places because i had commented on NoNewNormal which was taken down idk 2yrs ago. doesn't matter that i was there trying to convince people that vaccines are good - my name was on a list - the list (obviously) some botmod/automod follows. & don't try to write to anyone cause there just ain't nobody there watching mods - they say Moderators may, from time to time, make reasonable decisions at their discretion, subject to reddit rules. which can be appealed, lol - unfortunately they're basically the same Mod!!!
