Except, women are not the limiting factor anymore. If the US, or any western country said : "Let's double our population in 30 years", and actually forced people to, it would be no problem. Plus, many people believe there is an overpopulation problem, which doesn't mash well with such a reason.

It was the reason why women weren't fighting in war, and it came at the cost of men's rights not to be forced to die while fellow humans sat idly in their homes. It also came at the cost of certain women's rights. Rights that women now have, while men are still waiting for this injustice to be redressed. There are now two classes of citizens : Those still forced to fulfill their biological/traditional role (dying on command for "the greater good"), and those who profit from modernity.

Look at it this way : The state doesn't requisition women's wombs "for the good of the nation", so it has no right to requisition my blood, either.

I think the anti-rape adverts make sense too. Too be honest I feel the same about rape as some of the people on tumblr (saying a lot) but that doesn't mean I think all men are rapists, and I acknowledge false rape accusations as a problem (male here by the way).

Also hard to get accurate statistics of false accusations as well as some are found guilty and others are dismissed with no punishment to the false accusers and some are found not guilty and people still believe they are guilty whether or not they actually did commit the rape or not.

It's hard to account for something that gets swept under the rug as "it will hurt women who get raped from coming forward." even though false rape accusations do a worse job at that because no one believes them due to false rape accusations being so easy to make with little or no consequence.

Look at the current Brian Banks situation. He was falsely imprisoned on a false rape allegation that the liar admitted to and they still are not doing anything to her including going after the money she received from a lawsuit gained from her false rape allegation.

No, no I completely agree about Brian Banks and other cases. I have friends whose dads were accused of similar things from women going after money. But I also know a lot of women who are afraid to speak up after being sexually assaulted or harassed, and the one person I know who did was accused of a false accusation so was hurt very psychologically by that since she was told she was exaggerating or trying to get revenge and such. Of course, this definitely happens to men too and men would probably have more stigma and be more likely to be accused of making a false rape accusation since that's not "manly."

I do completely disagree with "false rape accusations being so easy to make with little or no consequence." I think coming forward about being raped is one of the most difficult things a man or woman could do in today's society. And I do think it's true that women (and men) are prevented from coming forward with attitudes like this. I'm pretty sure I've read multiple studies concerning this. I'll go look them up again. Honestly, I don't even know if I'd come forward if I was raped. And I just don't think all this backlash about false rape accusations helps anyone. Shouldn't we be supporting people instead? Because I don't see how for example making posters telling people not to falsely accuse others of rape helps anyone. I feel like it just hurts instead.

hmmm, there have still got to be some statistics about this. I'll look it up. I'm super curious now.

None of my post is meant to be hostile. I'm honestly just trying to understand and learn here, and I'm curious to here other opinions. I subscribed to /r/mensrights recently because I am passionate about public education advocacy and am especially interested in educational inequalities affecting our boys. Making posters for each side like the ones exampled, the "Men can stop Rape" and the "anti-false rape accusation" is probably a bad way to go about it, Though the "Anti-False Allegation" is a response to the "Men can stop rape" one which basically is calling all man potential rapists, though the anti-false rape allegation does not infer that all rape cases are false, but still possibly a bad way to go about it.

But as far as supporting people, yes rape victims should be supported just as well victims of false rape allegations should. But most people don't see why those being falsely accused should be supported and they fall off to the waste side whereas everyone does normally support a woman who says they've been raped(for the most part). The problem with a simple false rape allegation is that it's not so simple. They are not simply found innocent and can go on their merry way. Even if they beat the rap and they get found not guilty, then people still label him a rapist and of course his name has already been smeared around the public. They just say "Oh he's a scumbag. He just got lucky and the system doesn't work. That poor woman." The problem is that after the allegation, their life isn't the same and it's an uphill battle to regain a resemblance of it. By the time the ordeal is over, they lost their job which has already been filled, unless they are lucky to get it back. They lost their friends and some of their family backed away from them.

But the problem of people reporting rape should be promoted more through awareness. Instead of hanging posters blaming men, they should be posting posters that say "You are not alone, come talk with us for support." and false rape allegations do need to be brought up as well as it hurts both sides. False Rape allegations make real rape victims stories less believable and the falsely accused get their names and reputation soiled and in some cases wrongly inprisoned.

FBI consistently labels false allegations at 8%, but I wouldn't count on that number as it's difficult to really count how many are actually false just as it's hard to count how many people actually got raped due to unreporting.

Hadn't thought about it that way. :/ The complete opposite happened to me actually. A girl I know came forward with a rape charge, and her name was just smeared in the mud. She was attacked by all her so called friends and asked why she was trying to ruin her attacker's reputation and so on.

I understand why we can't trust how many rapes have occurred because of underreporting, but why not the false allegations stat? I'm assuming the FBI just keeps track of who was charged and who wasn't for these statistics? Why can't we use the actual court results as a good number to use?

I've found this subreddit very reasonable, but on other parts of the internet there are men's rights advocates who are just as fringe as the worst feminists. They completely deny any discrimination against women. This is why I don't consider myself a men's rights advocate, or a women's rights advocate, or a gay rights advocate, etc, but rather a humans rights advocate (and robots should they ever become sentient).

Well sure , it's just a few words ... right ? Think for a moment about what happens to men who are accused of rape . Even if you assume it's just a false accusation and that eventually he'll be cleared of the charge , nobody is going to let it go at that . He's gonna be ostracized in perpetuity and called a rapist for the rest of his life . Some white-knight , hero-type is always going to be willing to step up and 'take care' of the guy . He may lose his job , his family , his friends .

But okay , let's forget about him for a moment and consider the rape victim here . For one thing , recognize that most 'rapes' aren't necessarily what people think they are . You've got statutory rape laws whereby both parties were quite willing . Then you've got drunken rape where both parties were willing until she sobered up and had to explain to her friends what she was doing in that bedroom with that guy for a couple of hours .Then you've got "Not sure rape" where she's not even sure she had sex because she was so drunk she can't remember . If she did have sex though , it must have been rape because that's the only explanation possible /s . Then you've got technical rape . See , if he doesn't pull out quickly enough after she says no (having previously consented to and engaged in sex) then it's technically rape .

Basially , you've got an awful lot of situations where rape is really the wrong word . What people think of when the word rape is mentioned is some guy hiding behind some bush waiting for a suitably weak young woman to pass by so that he can beat her and have sex with her . Well , THAT crime is actually quite rare . It happens but it's pretty rare .

You've also got to consider the legal ramifications and procedures where rape is alleged . Firstly , as said before , you're guilty long before any trial as far as the vast majority of people are concerned . If it goes to trial , it's really you against the jury and all she needs are some tears to convince them . Assuming you're convicted , you'll go to prison for a at least a few years . While there , you'll soon discover that you're the lowest of the low as a rapist . That's why sex offenders are usually kept segregated from the general population . If you do somehow manage to get mixed in with the general population , you can look forward to beatings and prison heroes 'teaching you a lesson' any way they can . That's not to mention that you'll find yourself being raped in all likelihood .

Once you serve your time in prison , it's off to register as a sex offender . You'll have to tell everybody you're a monster (whether you ever actually did anything or not) You'll have a pretty tough time getting a job or making friends . This isn't some temporary situation either ... it's forever .

That and so much more is the result of a rape conviction whether the crime took place or not . False accusations don't get the "Oh ... our mistake , you're free to go." treatment . They get you branded with a big X right on your forehead that practically invites retaliatory action from pretty much everybody . Until you die .

So yeah , false accusations are at least as bad as the crime itself .

Rape ruins lives. False charges of rape (which is where false accusations tend to go to) also ruins lives. Except someone who is raped can, with time, recover and try to lead a good life afterwards. Someone who is falsely accused, especially if male, has their name and reputation dragged through the mud, and even if they're fortunate enough to be acquitted, the spectre of those charges will follow for the rest of his or her life.

Imagine going and applying for a job. A lot of employers search Google, Facebook, etc. when reviewing potential hires. Imagine the HR person going through the news articles about you being accused of rape, blog posts insinuating you won at trial illegitimately... That stigma is going to stick when they choose who to hire, and it's a good chance it won't be you that gets the job.

For those who get wrongfully convicted, it's even worse. Rarely is there coverage of wrongful convictions of rape being overturned, compared to murder. So, you get out of jail, get a paltry settlement if you're really lucky, and when you apply to places all they see is that you did time for rape. Goodbye chances of establishing a normal life. Especially if you're not taken off the sex offender list!

And let's not even talk about the treatment people get in jail from other prisoners, especially for those incarcerated for sex-related crimes... Getting raped yourself may be the least of your worries.

So yeah, I'd say that a false accusation is as bad as rape itself. At least, the results of it can be every bit as damaging to the victim of such accusations as rape itself.

Just to clarify: I AM NOT A TROLL. I just have very defined views on patriarchy and rape... To me, rape is the second worse thing, worst is murder. Because I've always felt like the actual action commiteted is much worse than an accusation that may or may not result ina consequence. I also think that a focus of false accusations takes away from what rape actually is; I caplete violation of autonomy and manipulation of anothers' body, the total denial of all rights for the express purpose of someone else's pleasure, there's some fantastic literature there. It's literally like torturing someone for fun,except it's less about pain and more about the manipulation of another.

I've felt fairly alienated by MRM for its focus on false accusation and demonization of fem. I think the biggest problem though is taking the people who are societally shown as dominant and saying these are the same people who assert rights. I think it's just more effective when it comes to combatting gender norms to focus on the feminene because it's about empowerment rather than the the power asserting rights when they're shown as the dominant force,, which, in my view, still reinforces normalization still. (that's something I still need to flesh out).

but in all honesty, I feel like MRM focuses on all the wrong things, I've still tried to expose myself too it for the same reasons I read The Blaze etc...

Not trying to nitpick you on this but I'm pretty sure torture and genocide are much much much worse than any rape or murder.( I say torture because atleast with murder you don't continually suffer, torture is awful, though torture and rape may well be on par.)

Assuming when you say fem you were just shortening feminism, alot of the hate towards feminism is reactionary, feminism often demonizes men, and anything associated with men, it's not unreasonable someone being demonized by an ideology wouldn't welcome it with open arms.

Patriarchy is a convenient excuse/scapegoat in the same way demons and evil spirits are for religion.

Patriarchy is largely disproven through the apex fallacy, patriarchy assumes because the most powerful in a society have X quality that all those in that society whom share X quality wield similar power, this is not only wrong, but often the reverse.

If men had some magical privilege granted to them through patriarchy the majority of the homeless wouldn't be male, they'd just wave their magical privilege about and be CEO of some company or hold an important position politically in society.

If patriarchy were in fact real males wouldn't be hurting in fields of education now more than ever compared to females whom thanks to often being given it all on a silver platter excel.

In essence feminism is nothing but unjustified bias, and hypocrisy.

That hypocrisy might not exist so much if feminism were honest in its interests, and didn't claim to be egalitarianism incarnate, when in fact its only interest is rights(and beyond) of women.

The problem is that you seem to think that spending time in prison is irrelevant - a "diversion" - in a conversation addressing the claim that being a victim of rape is worse than being a victim of false rape accusations. Both can lead to mental trauma, so it seems anything but a diversion to bring the issue up.

You're assuming all or even most "lying about someone else stealings" end in prosecution or prison.

When you're raped, you lose your autonomy for a brief period of time, and then you suddenly get to make a lot of decisions on how you're going to move on.

Brief? So the damage associated with a rape ends the moment a dick pulls out, the moment a hand removes itself from an arm or a throat, the moment a vagina decides its had enough of youA?

For a falsely accused, the accusation is the beginning of a lengthy period of losing your autonomy and power, and instead of just one person holding you down, you have an entire system trying to hold you down and keep you there for years, if possible.

Well, I suppose a metaphorical "holding down" is much worse than a literal one. Again, you're assuming false accusation = false conviction. How often does the former transpire into the latter?

Given the particulars on a situation by situation basis, being accused could be much worse than being raped.

I don't think either one sounds desirable. But if I had to choose, I'd rather not be raped.

Protip: In all of these cases, a lie is not allowed to spiral out of control and destroy the accused's life, with lifetime repercussions.

Maybe if lying about someone stealing from you led to them legally getting both hands chopped off. Maybe if lying about someone hitting you led to them legally getting an "Abuser Mark" permanently etched on their face. Maybe if lying about having cancer led to you being forced to get cancer. Maybe if lying about having a car accident led to your license being permanently revoked, and being within 5 meters of a car forevermore a crime.

Do you see? Maybe if due process, presumption of innocence, and protection from cruel and unusual punishment were waived for all forms of accusations, you'd have a case. But it isn't; only in false accusation of rape can an innocent man be victimized for life, with the full support of the law, by someone else.

That is why false accusation of rape is at least as severe.
