I was face timing with my mom a while ago, and we were discussing my wife finishing school soon, and us needing to find a baby sitter or daycare for our twin 2 year old girls.

I would prefer a baby sitter, because I would rather my kids be in a more loving home environment. I went to both growing up, and every day care I was in, I was treated very coldly by the workers, and the kids were all horrible. I preferred a baby sitter because we'd have home cooked meals and could do things like leave our bikes there to play with after school.

My mom said "well if you get a babysitter, just make sure her husband or an older brother isn't always hanging around."

I ask what this means...

"Well, you just don't want them up to no good with your girls."

I explain how horribly frustrating this is to hear her say this. I ask if she has any idea how frustrating it is when I take my girls out by myself to hear women say stuff like "that large man should not be with those little girls by himself." And tons of nasty glares by older women. I had to quit grocery shopping by myself, and bring the wife along because I couldn't take it. I don't know if its just my area or how I look, but it really sucks.

My mom says these two things have nothing to do with each other, and she has no idea what those women's problems are.

No. What she said is EXACTLY the same thing those other women are thinking. The idea that all men are potential child molesters. I just can't comprehend it.

I asked her if she thought only men were molesters, and she now owes me $5 on our bet that women would show up in child molestation statistics.

We ended up going around and around her stupid logic 3 times, with her saying that people saying nasty stuff to me when I'm alone with my kids has nothing to do with not leaving my kids with a babysitter whose husband or older male child is sometimes around.

She finally just got mad, told me I get way too sensitive about stuff, that she would never have a problem with a man around children (wut?) and hung up.
