Never, never sign a contract that rewards the other party for breaking it.

I say this as a happily married man who knows very well how lucky he is and is married to a woman who thinks she is the lucky one.

Under no circumstances would I ever re-marry. If it works out well, great. If it doesn't, it will ruin your life and the odds are heavily in favor of that ourcome.

The biggest issue right now is women are highly accessible and have high social mobility with next to zero accountability. This means that they can do whatever they want, and YOU will suffer the consequences. No intelligent person would like these terms and conditions. Marriage under a religious community while excluding the state is usually the best decision a man can make, but it is extremely difficult to pull off because the state will insert itself and claim common law marriage under the state and rob the man of his assets to give to the fickle divorcing wife.

Ive heard something last week and it stuck with me. Women don’t want to BE happy. Their happiness is the « looking for happiness ».

Women don’t bring peace. In fact they need men to provide peace so they can become peaceful.

Women are by far, children in adult bodies

I mean this without trying to insult anyone it’s just the way they are and we need to accept it. Now that you know how they truly are you can just move accordingly. If you want to get married, accept that you’re basically marrying what represents constant chaos, and that even her doesn’t understand herself.
If you don’t want to get married then you have to sacrifice a lot of things that a family could represent for you.
I think the whole purpose of this for men is not to « win » but rather to have something that constantly challenge you to become someone you never thought you could be. It could be a violent man or a more internally grounded and strong woman.

A man alone is living peacefully. A man with a woman will go through hell but if he manage to survive he will certainly be a conqueror. Peace be upon you

I just finished getting divorced and will say that I’m open to another life long commitment and would even consider a religious ceremony for a wedding but no way in hell am I getting the government involved again. "Women want the wedding but not the marriage" has never been more true. The only benefit marriage has to men is children, and hopefully they are yours.

Having said that the number of men I know who never see their children because of parental alienation, shows that even marriage is no guarantee.

The only advice I can share is establish your boundaries and enforce them, be prepared for divorce and make sure she is contributing financially, in equal proportions. Keep your own bank accounts.

Because I've found an equal.. Someone to share my time with.. Someone to enjoy all of life's moments next to.. To help me take care of our Black Labrador, Sadie, who is our whole World.. To have someone to lean on when times are tough... I've been unemployed on and off for roughly 3 years, because my dad had Stage 4 Cancer, and my Mom has Alzheimer's.. The stress alone from my parents almost caused me to take my own life, but my WONDERFUL WIFE picked me back up, got me to the hospital.. Took care of me, and has been the main supporter financially speaking for 3 years. Do I do all the chores in the house, and take care of the dog the majority of the time? You bet your ass, i do. Because that's marriage. That's partnership..

What most of you haven't had the time to learn is that the right woman in your corner is your source of strength, not someone you have to constantly worry about getting one over on you...

I'm not some Boomer either... We began dating when I was 30, and were married by the time I was 32... And now we've been married nearly 5 years.

This is why I constantly come in here, and try to tell you guys that it's toxic to constantly have these Men vs Women debates... You all need to mature past it, and meet some women who will embrace you for who you are.

He shouldn’t. Literally 0 benefit and only harm comes from it in today’s world. Once you get married, there goes your free time to hang with the boys. But don’t you dare tell her no more girls night out. Speaking of which, good luck still having female friends. But God forbid you tell her delete all her guy friends. Even though most of your female friends aren’t trying to hit, and almost all her guy friends ARE trying to hit.

Also, once you’re married, the rate at which you have sex will decrease exponentially. But your role as the protector, provider, and emotional support person is literally never allowed to stop. And if you bring up wanting to have sex she’s got a headache, not in the mood, you’re a r*pist for trying to force her, blah blah.

If you ever have kids, the rate sex occurs decreases even more. But the rate at which you have to provide for others increases. And she’ll likely say she wants to suddenly start staying at home with kids. So now that increase in providing is now only being done on one income…yours. In this modern economy? Not a good idea.

She has to get her way on everything. Because if she’s unhappy, she’ll make the whole household unhappy with her. Your happiness isn’t even considered. There’s literally a whole saying behind this bullshit. “Happy wife, happy life.” It should be “happy spouse, happy house.” But trying telling a modern woman that. See how she responds.

In the old days, the woman staying at home to raise the kids made sense. She’d teach them valuable lessons and skills. She’d keep the house clean, and she’d have a warm cooked meal waiting for you after you got home from busting your ass to keep a roof over their head and food on their table.

But nowadays, a lot of women don’t even know how to cook. Some do but literally refuse to do so. They are almost all messy people who don’t bother to clean the house. Asking them to do so is labeled sexist. But the irony and hypocrisy here is it’s actually them that are sexist because they are expecting use to remain shackled to our traditional gender roles, while refusing to do the same, themselves.

And if you two divorce for literally ANY reason, she gets half, if not more of your shit. Even if she cheated on you, you pay. She hit you? You still pay. You simply fell out of love? Too bad, you still pay.

Your needs aren’t being met? (Sexually or otherwise) boy that’s tough…you still pay. She gets the house that was most likely originally paid for with your money. The car you originally paid for if you both don’t already have your own separate cars. She gets the kids, oh but you still have to pay to support them…and you rarely get to see them (women are the real deadbeats because they expect a guy they walked away from to keep paying for their lifestyle while they sit around unemployed not actually caring for the kid they have custody of)

And if you can’t afford all this during this record bad era we are in economically…there’s no government assistance coming, like a woman would get. No, you go to jail. Thrown in a cage like a wild animal. Simply because you didn’t give enough money to a woman that left your life. Of her own free will.

Marriage in modern society is just a legalized form of slavery, if you’re a man. Want proof? It starts with a blatant humiliation ritual and act of subservience. They expect you to spend up to 4 paychecks worth of money on a ring…after you’ve already been spoiling them for years as the boyfriend.

Then, you have to kneel before them like a servant, to ask them if they’ll marry you. Why? Aren’t we supposed to be equal, now? If there’s no need for traditional gender roles, then there’s no need for us to quite literally genuflect to them, in order to propose. It’s a sexist and outdated custom.

If one of you is incapacitated it really helps to be married, otherwise you are treated like a stranger and probably their family will be in control of their treatment. Even so... I wouldn't risk it. I've seen too many horror stories by now where men married psychopaths who faked love the whole time so they can divorce and keep half the assets, and these days people don't even bother to hide it. They're not even ashamed of it. I even know a woman who married another woman, and she got taken for the same ride. They are completely open that's what they want to do and it is celebrated and encouraged in the mainstream culture.

Maybe with some kind of prenuptial agreement, or if we already got very old together.

They would have to change the marriage laws a lot.

On of the reason I think is that they are desperate.
I would rather just find a woman that deserves wife treatment, which I would gladly provide.
I would never sign anything nor get the government involved into my bed. No thanx.

By the way there are exceptions, there are actually lot of women I believe that really deserve to have a husband, and get married. We can not deny that. However, this is a risk I am not willing to take, no thanks. especially a western woman.

I don’t know. I’m sure there are many women for whom your statement holds true, but you can spot them from a mile away: low-earning, superficial, expensive tastes. I feel like men get duped into relationships with these sorts of women — because they’re frequently good looking and sometimes will even sleep for it — and those relationships can set back both men’s rights and women’s rights causes.

I came out of my first divorce with way more money than I came into it with — and so did my ex-wife. After that, I was a healthy and active 40 year old with a good job. I had my pick and slept around a bit, but I ultimately married a successful woman who can take care of herself financially and emotionally. We help each other, and her help to me is just as valuable as my help to her. The short term rewards are not as great as banging a yoga teacher, but come on, marry the good girl. That’s what I’d tell my kid.

This is not to say that marriage is a good thing. I agree with you that it does ruin people financially and emotionally. Also, I think it's pretty dumb for women in particular to get married, rather than men, because men stand the most to gain, women stand the most to lose. But like I said, I don't think anyone should get married point blank period, it's not a healthy way to live.

To clarify, I don't think any of this evidence is actually conclusive (though I do find the men's health benefits research the most compelling), but I do think it certainly challenges the narrative that we can say for certain men don't benefit from marriage.

Also, do you not think it has any risk for the woman? Can it not ruin her financially and emotionally, too?
