I can totally appreciate the need for conversation around gender equality and rights, but most posts on this sub don't acknowledge any nuance and make it seem like everything exists in a vacuum.

"Men can't flee the war in Ukraine" - yet no acknowledgment of the fact that in eastern European countries women are expected to do all the housework and childcare, that there are very traditional gender roles there. Domestic violence was only criminalized in Ukraine a few years ago, and the culture is still very much accepting of the dynamic where men use physical violence.

You'd rather have the kids die in the war? Leave them orphaned without a primary carer? Really?

"Men die younger" but no acknowledgment of how many men have stressful careers and how stress contributes to life expectancy. Guess what though, 30 years ago the odds of a woman getting a high paid career (that's both lucrative and stressful) were very low. They still aren't even now, because of the lack of encouragement young girls get in pursuing high paid careers & because of the "motherhood pay gap" where we see women penalized for taking maternity leave.

There are so many more examples of this and I don't understand why people are trying to have these conversations when they're choosing to be blind to context and nuance. Very disingenuous.
