Whoever gilded me, thank you. And lol, life, you absurdity.

Society has many different rules and laws in place, many of which are to control people's behavior, especially men's behavior. The stigma and social shaming against rape and violence is there to help prevent men from doing such things for example, and rightfully so.

Which, most men don't want to do at all. The very fact that some men sometimes consider such things leaves many men hating the thoughts that come to their head, seemingly for no reason beyond that's just how they are.

And men hate themselves for this. You see religions playing off of the hatred of human nature too, calling things sinful, outlawing behaviors that men(and women too) have natural urges for.

Feminism plays off of this self hatred and extends it to other aspects of life, giving men more reason to hate themselves for their very presence imposing on women's feeling of safety and comfort, guilt for how society used to be and the harsh conditions women faced.

It's a great source of pain and shame in many men, I have seen man's self hatred drive all sorts of addictions, common ones being food and alcohol. According to this site, men are several more times likely to be addicted to drugs or alcohol compared to women, we can't conclude precisely why, but from understanding other men self hatred is usually involved.

I'm not entirely sure what drives women's self hatred. It is different than men's typically, more often dealing with feeling inadequate, not good enough, unlovable, unworthy of appreciation. It seems more in reaction to how they're expected to be versus hating their own natural thoughts and antisocial desires. However I do imagine some women feeling guilty for their seductive side and sexual nature, though feminism has drastically reduced sources of this sort of self hatred.

Does anyone relate or have any ideas about how men and women's self hatred differs and why?
