How does our socioeconomic system affect dating? Would there be a greater number of people satisfied under capitalism or socialism?

There is still “money” and “power” imbalance under socialism. If everyone got same weekly allowance there would still be people who are “connected” and those connections would amount to an income inequality.

If we changed over to true socialism (whatever that means) I would imagine dating for adults to be a lot more immature and impractical. Women would be even more superficial and reckless in the men they chose since daddy government is taking care of them (an accelerated version of what is already happening). The amount of men “at the top” would be even smaller.

Hierarchies have always existed and will always exist no matter what system of distributing scarce resources there is. Some lead to more, and others less but unless we are talking about extremely small scales, I just don't see it happening.

In American capitalism, the “means of production” may be privately owned but are far too often their profits and losses are subsidized by the middle class taxpayers.

In pretty much all true socialist societies, the “mean of production” on paper may be owned by the people, but the people never enjoy the spoils and often the “nationalization” of private industry is simply a transfer of wealth from one power clique to another with the gubment taking a big chunk as it “moves through.”

Neither here nor there re your OP but just had to be said.

So I don’t think that men will have a better or worse chance based merely on living in a capitalist vs socialist society.

For example, a man in capitalist country has more RMV as he makes more money but doesn’t need to make a lot of money to have high SMv. In fact he can parlay his smv into a living if he’s attractive and charismatic enough and becomes a tennis pro at the country club servicing the rich househoes or finds a baby mama willing to let him hang around and play video games and sell dope all day and be a sex toy.

I don’t know much about dating in socialist societies but a lot seem to have the very hypergamous women. Anyone from a socialist country want to weigh in?

It affects things hugely but given that we transitioned from Beaver Cleaver socially enforced monogamy to the current state all while capitalism kept its engines running shows you need a vastly more supple analysis of ANY of this.

I will say I’ve noticed two MASSIVE shifts in my general passive desirability from women. First when my family bought me a BMW in high school after i proved i could avoid wrecking my starter grandma car. And second when i sold my soul and stopped being a do gooder hippie architect to go work in private equity.

TRP and anyone with common sense will rightly say that kind of attention is superficial and not based on genuine attraction blah blah blah. Doesn’t matter, had sex. (It’s what you do with the attention that matters)

I’m not sure honestly if a greater number of people would be satisfied under one or the other but what I can say is that socialism or any kind of statist government absolutely terrifies me because I’m super certain that the left would take its “sex work is work” way too far. Sex could be plentiful but connection would be scarce.

We're moving toward a more socialist 'community' mindset, which is why more 'communal' forms of sexuality are being embraced, i.e. polyamory, female promiscuity (she's not yours, she's yours now). How we relate to one another as people is largely determined by economic ideology. It's pretty fascinating.

Capitalism is probably better because some more men can get beta bucks sex just by working hard and making money but not otherwise having attractive qualities of their own. Under socialism men would just be judged based upon their innate attractiveness, and more men would end up being judged deficient by women. This is probably a big reason why so many men support capitalism to begin with.

There has been quite extensive research that shows that women had better sex under Socialism.

A short summary

I would recommend the whole book. It boils down to several things:

Due to the enormous social safety that women (and men) enjoyed, and because childcare was cheap and available in good quality, the entire phenomenon of women being financially dependent on men completely vanishes. (and no, it did not lead to a decline in marriage, it led to happier marriages) Similarly, the socialist economy didn't put people under pressure and stress nearly as much as the capitalist system. It should be obvious why that leads to better sex and better relationships. I live in Germany and hear a lot from people who lived in the GDR. One thing that always gets mentioned is how much more trusting and friendly everyone was. For example, it was completely normal for women to leave their baby carriages standing outside of supermarkets when buying groceries. It was completely safe to do so, one could be sure that strangers around were trustworthy and would even watch out for the child.

That shit is completely unimaginable in a capitalist country, even in the best neighbourhoods. Everybody is tense, angry, everybody has too much shit to worry about to give a damn about other people.

So yeah. Things were different. But we get better cars and shoes i guess

Religion has a huge impact. Look at how Southern Italy worked regarding sex. Extreme sexual repression followed by having crazy huge numbers of kids who all had to go to the Americas to find work.

Economically that region has always been screwed and I have friends there who say it still is. I think births collapsed when everybody figured out religion is bullshit and birth control is fine.

In socialism beta traits would matter less, and in order to get into the top you'd just need to focus on alpha traits even more.

However, the top still would be the same percentage assuming views on sex still are the same.

The obvious problem with this question is that the extremes of socialism and capitalism cannot exist. Unchecked capitalism rapidly dissolves into feudalism, or succumbs to a populous revolution and takes on some socialist features. Likewise, hardcore, totalitarian socialism with no private property has pretty well been proven to be non functional.

So really the question worth asking is how strongly regulated capitalism with a robust safety net compares to loosely regulated capitalism with a minimal safety net.

So Western Europe vs the US.
