CMV: "Sexual strategy is amoral" is not something red pillers believe. It's just something they say to help them cope with how much they hate women.

I'm less depressed about being incel now and more depressed and worried about all the laws coming up in my country which will make it increasingly difficult to be attractive, essentially. For example, you now need consent for everything, every time, you have to ask verbally, you basically have to be as passive as possible-any aggressiveness or 'dominant' behaviour is now labeled as emotional abuse, which is illegal and has a sentence of 5 years. While this seems sensible (I mean, no one wants to rape or assault) it's also a major turn-off, to seek consent in exactly the way described. This was decided by the UK Home Office/Crown. I can see a lot of dead bedrooms in the future.

The laws as I understand them are basically forcing men into choosing: obedient beta providers, or jail for abuse/rape. Also, the implication of the site was that you weren't allowed to see anything to defame its reputation. So I can see being gender critical being not only abuse, but treason of some sort in time to come.

As a man who finds it difficult to approach within 10 feet of a woman, let alone harass, I find this troubling and it's put me off dating even further.

Finally, redpillers are now getting prosecuted and the movement is totally straw manned in regional tabloids. Apparently you view women as second class citizens with no rights in marriage.

i hardly think laws of consent are keeping you from having companionship.

Yeah.. TRP is sooo wrong. Yet, below that article bemoaning TRP, there's a link for an article written yeasterday titled, "Sex with 'bad boys' might be irresistible to women - but you don't have to marry one" complete with links to studies confirming exactly what TRP says. Proving the point once again, that it's not what you say, but how you say it.

Women..

[–]catemlBlue Pill Woman3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Nah.

For a start, most sexual abuse/assault laws and domestic abuse are pretty token. In the sense that basically no one ever gets prosecuted for anything that isn't very clear rape with evidence or beating the shit out of someone repeatedly. Things will stay the same. The only thing that has changed in modern times is now if you beat the crap out of your girlfriend and she calls the police instead of agreeing to take a quick walk round the block you have to agree to go and stay at a friend's for the night.

Finally, redpillers are now getting prosecuted and the movement is totally straw manned in regional tabloids. Apparently you view women as second class citizens with no rights in marriage.

He wasn't be prosecuted for being a redpiller, he was being prosecuted for allegedly raping his wife, sexually assaulting her on numerous occasions and destroying her property. These are things that have been illegal for a long time. The only reason that they talk about it in the article is because it's salacious and interesting and sells papers/gets clicks, that shit wouldn't mean diddly squat in court.

To be honest with the emotional abuse laws, its pretty shocking that shit wasn't illegal already. I mean, repeatedly and slowly wearing down someone's self worth and dignity in order to break them and make them compliant to your demands? You really shouldn't be doing that, you know?

But yeah, basically I'd bet money that the situation will continue that perpetrators will continue to get away with 95% of rape, sexual assault and spousal abuse the same way they have always done. The very few cases that are actually tried and prosecuted under emotional abuse laws will be spouses where these is clear evidence they waged a long and deliberate campaign intended to emotionally break another human being.

Panic if you want, but there are a lot more valid issues to panic about than this. This really isn't a situation in which you can legitimately externalize your problems interacting with women.

I was a celibate for about three years, and all I have to say is that if your life doesn't revolved around an obsession with sex, you quickly learn that life is not only not about sex, but that sex simply isn't important. It's nice, yes, but far from a necessity.

If you're suicidal and depressed about not getting any, then you have bigger problems, such as those with your own perceived value as a human being.

[–]Plugawy_Nedznik 9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

Incel's problem is not as much lack of sex but general companionship. With women or anyone.

[–]CarkudoThe original opinionated omega2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's true mostly for older incels only. When I was younger, being incel only affected social interactions in the sense that some people are assholes and refuse to hang out with someone unattractive. It's only when you're older and significantly behind your peers that incel becomes a contributor to isolation.

[–]VermiciousKnidzz 2 points2 points2 points 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

being dependent on others for happiness is a generally unhealthy/bad thing.

[–]kathydurst8 points9 points10 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Can you elaborate on that? I think you're setting up a standard no one can live by. People require social interaction. That's not needy. That's being human. If those interactions are consistently negative, its going to a hard life for that person.

[–]Plugawy_Nedznik 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Then being human is a generally unhealthy/bad thing.

[–]OfSpock0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Perhaps they should work on the root cause of that then, eg anxiety and depression, move up to casual friendships and then try dating.

[–]Plugawy_Nedznik 9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

No shit. But when the only cure for lack of something is that very something it's kind of hard to do.

[–]OfSpock-2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Lack of depression is not the only cure for depression. See a doctor/psychiatrist.

[–]CarkudoThe original opinionated omega8 points9 points10 points 10 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Are you saying that with the knowledge of the usual incel's experience with therapy or psychiatry?

Hint: the experience is overwhelmingly negative. I don't think I've ever met anyone who used to be incel and managed to change that with the help of therapy or meds.

[–]gainzndamez 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yup. A childhood therapist ruined that profession for me entirely.

[–]OfSpock0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I know someone whose suicidal impulses disappeared with therapy and medication.

[–]CarkudoThe original opinionated omega5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Do you know someone who was incel and whose incel situation was solved through therapy? No, you do not. And every time the question comes up in any incel community, the answer is a resounding no - therapy isn't equipped to either solve or even manage the incel issue.

[–]Reed_49830 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I disagree. I think a good therapist can definitely help you to find a partner, if that's what you want. Of course many people would need to overcome anxieties and blockades they have to really improve themselves and sort out their issues, but therapy can assist with that. Incel forums, I wouldn't count them as representative for people who have trouble with loneliness or not finding a partner. Many of these people don't define themselves as incels, many never visit a forum, and many of them don't stay there all the time - that's the case in every internet community, there's people coming and leaving all the time.

[–]CarkudoThe original opinionated omega1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Of course many people would need to overcome anxieties and blockades they have to really improve themselves and sort out their issues, but therapy can assist with that.

That's just the thing. Self-improvement is trivial and the kind of person who finds himself really troubled by inability to find a partner is more likely to arrive at the idea of self-improvement by himself, without needing therapy. "I need to work out", "I need to shower" and "I need better social skills" aren't difficult ideas that most people need therapy for. I've run across a few who probably would, sure, but that kind of person is also highly unlikely to ever seek therapy.

Incel forums, I wouldn't count them

Of course you wouldn't, it's convenient for you not to. You propose to just assume that throughout the numerous communities I've ever see, the people who escaped incel/FA through therapy just fell to the cracks and either never participated in the first place, or never posted about it. Sure, there's no way to prove there are no such people. There is, however, also no reason to assume there are.

At the end of the day, therapy is something that is between the therapist and the client. It can change the client, can help the client change himself. But if the client is incel because other people simply cannot be attracted to him (which is a common reason for someone being incel. I'm one such person), then therapy cannot help, because therapy cannot affect someone not immediately present in the space of that ongoing therapy.

[–]Reed_49831 point 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Well, I think that mental issues (your inner demons, if you wanna call it like that), which can hinder you in finding a relationship, can be a lot more complex than just the idea that self improvement is necessary. And certainly for a happier life, more pursuit with your inner self than just "I need to work out" is often necessary. From my own experience, therapy has done a lot of positive impact, from being able to understand myself better, to reflect who you are and what you want in life and to just be able to talk through all the things that bother or conern you in a calm, undisturbed manner.

And yes, I do believe that "incel forums" are not a representative portrayal of people who have trouble to find a relationship. The term incel alone is such an niche internet thing to which most "lonely people" would probably not even identify themselves with if they knew what it was. We don't know of what demographic the people in these forums are made of, and as I said, in internet communities, people come and leave all the time - so it's not such an accurate representation that we could judge by them that therapy doesn't work for lonely people.

[–]Carkudo2 points 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

which can hinder you in finding a relationship

See, that's the kicker though. CAN inner demons really hinder one in finding a relationship? Attraction happens with minutes, perhaps seconds after meeting for the first time. The inner demons are not visible at that point. People overlook severe social, emotional and mental issues for the sake of simple attraction. Conversely, if you're unattractive, the slightest social faux pas gets you written off.

From my own experience, therapy has done a lot of positive impact, from being able to understand myself better, to reflect who you are and what you want in life and to just be able to talk through all the things that bother or conern you in a calm, undisturbed manner.

I can relate to that. Therapy has been and it immensely important in my life in exactly the same way. You know what it hasn't done, though? Make me more attractive to the opposite gender. Because at the end of the day, it's about visceral attraction - something that is as far removed from the scope of therapy as it could be.

And yes, I do believe

I got that the first time. If you want me to take your belief seriously, make an effort to convince me that you have reasons to believe that other than it being convenient for you.

it's not such an accurate representation that we could judge by them that therapy doesn't work for lonely people

That would be a valid argument if there were examples of FAs and incels whom therapy has helped. There are notably none.

[–]Reed_49831 point 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

CAN inner demons really hinder one in finding a relationship?

Yes, mental issues such as depressions, low self-esteem, anxieties, conflicts in you that haven't been worked off, and the likes - they are things that are not only in yourself, but you exude them outside, other people can sense and feel them in a certain way. And they are also part of the person you appear as infront of others, they are part of what makes up your appearance and attraction. Now I don't believe that all women within the first seconds of seeing you can accurately decide whether they will or will not ever want a relationship with you. I know a romantic/sexual relationship can evolve out of an existing relationship between people, and this is where all these deeper elements will come up. My own observation and experience tells me that visual attraction isn't the only deciding factor and a lot of unattractive people have relationships.

I can relate to that. Therapy has been and it immensely important in my life in exactly the same way. You know what it hasn't done, though? Make me more attractive to the opposite gender. Because at the end of the day, it's about visceral attraction - something that is as far removed from the scope of therapy as it could be.

Therapy cannot "give you" a relationship. This will always stay your job. But therapy, if used correctly, can assist you in becoming a more healthy, happy person, a more complete person, if you will. These aspects both contribute to attractiveness. It can also help you with shaking off habits which are bad for you, such as avoiding meeting people.

That would be a valid argument if there were examples of FAs and incels whom therapy has helped. There are notably none.

To be honest I wouldn't know where to look for examples to give you. It seemed such an obvious, logical fact to me that I have no clue where to search for proof of it. Therapy can help people sort out issues which definitely hinder people having happy relationships. This is like the statement that therapy has helped bulimic women overcoming their eating disorder. It's such an obvious truth that I wouldn't know where to look for proof.

[–]Carkudo1 point 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

you exude them outside

DO you exude them outside? Really? Can you actually prove that?

Because in my experience, people with all kinds of severe mental issues get to have sex and date. In fact, they get to have partners who will work hard to fix their issues sometimes. Just for being attractive. Because of that, it's my firm opinion that mental issues in and of themselves cannot hinder one. They can correlate with an inability to find a partner, or they can be caused by it, but they cannot cause it.

My own observation and experience

Which is that, I wonder? Usually, when people say something like, it turns out that they don't actually have any observations, and the experience amounts to reading a few articles on the internet.

These aspects both contribute to attractiveness.

They can at best contribute to one's ability to increase his attractiveness. They don't themselves make a man more attractive.

This is like the statement that therapy has helped bulimic women overcoming their eating disorder. It's such an obvious truth that I wouldn't know where to look for proof.

Except, it isn't. Any community dedicated to eating disorders will have large numbers of success stories from individuals who managed to solve the problem through therapy or a variety of different methods.

Not so for incels.

I was there. I didn't have any really close friends for most of that period.

[–]ozymandias271That's not how evolution works.11 points12 points13 points 10 years ago (22 children) | Copy Link

Dude, that's an incredibly fucking insensitive response.

Lack of sex? Oh, sure, you can rub one out. But loneliness? Insecurity? Feeling ugly? The fear that you're going to die alone and no one will care? Those can and do fuck people up. I'm glad that you didn't suffer, but other people do, and their pain is perfectly legitimate.

[–]Imperfect_Company1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The fear that you're going to die alone and no one will care?

I used to be seriously depressed about a this kind of thing few years ago, and a huge part of getting myself into a better space mentally was just coming to terms with that reality. Yeah, it sucks to be lonely or feel ugly, but the most crushing part about it was the idea that if I tried doing (or not doing) this, that, or the other thing then my luck would improve. Of course it didn't work that way for me, and I realized that I had to stop beating myself up for not being good enough. After all, why spend time being upset with or angry at people who don't care about me?

[T]heir pain is perfectly legitimate.

Sure, it's legitimate, but it's also unnecessarily harmful. Our individual feelings are our own, and it's up to us to control them. Part of exercising that control lies in what we decide to focus our lives on. If an incel wants to pour all his energy into being upset and angry over how lonely he is then that's his fault and no one else's.

[–]CookieMan0Interested Third Party1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

Lack of sex? Oh, sure, you can rub one out.

Read: celibate. As in, opted out of jerking in because it's a hollow experience.

But loneliness? Insecurity? Feeling ugly? The fear that you're going to die alone and no one will care? Those can and do fuck people up.

I experienced those. Much of that period overlapped with a period of depression over a serious mental diagnosis, that later turned out to be false. I was totally sure that I would be lonely for life. It did fuck me up, and I still haven't healed fully— that process may take decades.

I'm glad that you didn't suffer, but other people do, and their pain is perfectly legitimate.

Which is why I feel for them. But the incel label is entirely about choosing to abstain from masturbation combined with sexual frustration and poor mental health, self esteem, and a lack of social abilities. It's someone who doesn't want to see tits on a computer screen their whole life, and wants an out, but doesn't know where to start with self development or their romantic life.

Since when do incels not masturbate?

[–]CookieMan0Interested Third Party-3 points-2 points-1 points 10 years ago* (15 children) | Copy Link

Since when do incels not masturbate?

It's an abbreviation of "involuntary celibate". Celibacy means no sexual activity whatsoever, so masturbation is out. It's a small misnomer, as masturbation is technically an option, but it has been passed over in favor of contact with a real person.

[–]TheKickboxingGuy 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

Celibacy is not a strict definition. Most incels are involuntarily abstinent from sex but still masturbate.

[–]CookieMan0Interested Third Party-2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

Then they're not celibate. It just means they aren't getting laid, and should stop calling themselves celibate.

[–]Xemnas815 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You take it too literally.

Incel is basically the lonely guy who jacks off to porn and then cries into his pillow.

[–]CarkudoThe original opinionated omega5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Dude, just because you've come up with one more bullshit reason why "incel doesn't exist" people aren't going to stop using the word. Language is a convention, so shut up.

Never said it didn't exist. I said it had some odd technicalities. Language is often misused, with incorrect uses catching on in the mainstream.

Prescriptivism is for losers. Especially when it's not even a goal unto itself, but just a means for you to put down a group you don't like.

Prescriptivism is for losers. Especially when it's not even a goal unto itself, but just a means for you to put down a group you don't like.

Put down a group I was a part of and feel sympathy for? For what motive?

Words don't have equal meanings between people. If I were to use they're/their/there interchangeably, I'd be wrong. Language isn't objective, as it does evolve through how it's used, but it's not subjective either. It needs to be agreed upon, and the chosen use of the abbreviation incel doesn't match with the definition of its root words.

[–]Carkudo1 point 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

You're using your own definition of incel against the conventional one, and trying to argue a point using your own definition.

You were a guy with philosophical issues concerning the nature of love, who swore off relationships (but could have them), sex (but could have it) and masturbation. You now come here and call that incel.

Here, the word incel is used to talk about people who cannot have sex or relationships.

It needs to be agreed upon

No, it doesn't. Language works by convention, not codification. Rage about it all you want, but that's just how it is.

the chosen use of the abbreviation incel doesn't match with the definition of its root words

Good thing it doesn't have to. Prescriptivism is for losers.

Incorrect. I haven't any clue where you got that from— can you quote my comments that gave you that idea?

I'm not the on who has trouble grasping what language is, here.

Prescriptivism is for losers.

Copping out of being competent at using the English language, are we? Or do words mean what you want them to mean, and have nothing to do with ensuring you are accurately communicating with others?

[–]Carkudo0 points 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Incorrect. I haven't any clue where you got that from

You had had relationships and sex in the past.

I'm not the on who has trouble grasping what language is, here.

Ooooh, let me guess, you probably have some sort of STEM degree, right? Do tell me what language is, please. I love to hear the crazy things you guys come up with.

Or do words mean what you want them to mean, and have nothing to do with ensuring you are accurately communicating with others?

I'm going to skip over your completely silly assumption that semantics of all things must combine in some prescribed manner, but this... well

If dictionary definitions were what ensures the accuracy of communication between speakers of a language, the creation of dictionaries would have to precede the existence of each corresponding language, which is absurd. This is why prescriptivism is for losers - what you believe to be tools that prescribe word usage and word formation (and apparently the formation of semantic meaning - did some generative linguist molest you when you were little or something?) are actually merely descriptive.

You had had relationships and sex in the past.

Which were what concluded my incel period. No interpersonal activity before it.

Ooooh, let me guess, you probably have some sort of STEM degree, right? Do tell me what language is, please. I love to hear the crazy things you guys come up with.

I might acknowledge this if you could stop acting like a child. But the rest of your post only gets worse, so I'm going to pretend you aren't acting like someone half your age.

[–]Carkudo1 point 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Which were what concluded my incel period. No interpersonal activity before it.

Elaborate. What I got from your previous comments is that you had had relationships, but out of some philosophical angst now discount them as not real. And you also had sex, right? The particulars don't really matter. My point stands.

I might acknowledge this if you could stop acting like a child. But the rest of your post only gets worse, so I'm going to pretend you aren't acting like someone half your age.

If that's the excuse you're comfortable with, be my guest. Here's a hint, though: when you come up with excuses, it's not necessary to tell them to your opponent. The excuse is for you, not for me.

Like I said, celibate is not a strict definition.

[–]moosemc 1 points1 points1 points 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Having a bit of a hard time with that one. Celibate to me always meant - free of the drama and conflict associated with having partners.

Is the view that celibacy means not touching yourself, a common one?

[–]CookieMan0Interested Third Party0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Let's check the Wikipedia definition:

In a wider sense, it is commonly understood to only mean abstinence from sexual activity.[1][5]

[–]ozymandias271That's not how evolution works.1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Wait, does incel mean nofap now?

I am continually confused by what people in this sub mean by incel...

[–]CookieMan0Interested Third Party0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Close. Either the common definition is a misnomer, or the people who claim the label are actually celibate.

[–]artietx -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, good for him he didn't suffer. I completely understand people who are deeply unhappy because of 3 years without sex.

[–]artietx 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nobody says it's very important. But can you say that life without it happy? Good for you if you can.

I was celibate for 3+ years too, not by choice. I was fucking happy to break it and basically did anything for that girl. Like, to think about it now.. Would I start dating her in particular or did the fact that I had no choice affect how hard I fell for her?

So yeah, it's not a necessity, but having it makes you way happier and keeps your mind clear (like you won't commit to a girl just because of it). Besides, lack of sex makes your desperate/thirsty and it's a negative feedback loop. Your options are worse, there's no way you can really date a girl you really want because you will come off as desperate and therefore not cool.

I think the problem is a lot bigger for men who are virgins or incel for a lot longer than 3 years. In your case, I doubt you were seriously afraid you would never have sex or feel loved again.

[–]CookieMan0Interested Third Party1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

In your case, I doubt you were seriously afraid you would never have sex or feel loved again.

The former, yes. The latter I was never sure about in the first place. Both questions have now been answered for me, but they weren't answered without considerable effort on my part.

[–]tallwheelManosphere Unificationist-1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

OK fair enough. Sorry if that was harsh and dismissive.

[–]CookieMan0Interested Third Party2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Entirely fair. This is a place to put ideas to the test.

You can't stop it completely, but I try to keep myself busy with a ton of hobbies (both physical and mental) and I work on a side project with some friends. Some days are better than others.

I'm not FA though and have plenty of friends to hang out with on the weekends. That helps a bunch as well. I can't imagine what I would do if I was FA.

Do you have friends or family? It seems like loneliness is a larger issue than wanting a romantic attachment.

[–]madeyathink0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thales has severe issues. He has both a superior and inferior complex. He may have a mental disorder. Self esteem is non existant. Everything he does is for the approval of his mom. If I were to bet his hatred towards red pill comes from his hatred of the men who dated his mother and never committed to her.

This guy needs serious help.

I was incel for a long time, and honestly, I don't know. I was often depressed, but only had serious suicidal thoughts on a few occasions. I guess for me it helped that I always had a stable job, lots of hobbies to fill up my time, a small handful of friends, and probably most fortunately I'm very close with my parents and family. My parents are still together, openly affectionate with each other, and have always supported me 100%. I don't know what I would have done without their love and support.

He's referencing the above post regarding new laws making it "illegal to be alpha" (paraphrasing).

I found it pretty funny.

Edit: Wait, he's the one who made the post. I thought it was someone else, but I guess he's making fun of himself. Still funny, but it is now much more mysterious.

It's alright, man. TRP deals with this.

Women are still naive children. They're easy to manipulate. You'll be fine if you always stay a few steps ahead. Record her, have plenty of proof of her acting like a stupid whore via text messages, etc.

No court will take her seriously after that.

[–]MrCheddarCheese0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Dude. You're trying to hard. Everyone will think you're a blue pill troll trying to make red pillers look like moronic children (which, admittedly, isn't hard), but tone it down if you want to be successful.

A few people here have rephrased this question in a way that is more about how you deal with isolation- pointing out that when you crave companionship, it's hard to find it because neediness is off-putting.

I think TRP actually has some good advice for this- hitting the gym and working on interests is really fucking good advice. But I spent a year doing another ritual that made my life a lot better: every week I did something I'd never done before, by myself, and wrote about it in a journal. Doing this made me feel like hanging out with myself was something special that I enjoyed- and that I could be better company for myself than some other people were. I did this at a time when I had a lot of friends- so I don't know how it works when you are lonely- but it definitely made me feel like I was a good friend to myself. I made a point to keep what I was doing secret so that I didn't feel like it was ever for anyone but myself. However, at the end of the year, I had a lot of stories to share about some of the more ridiculous stuff I did (like hiking to the top of a mountain, drinking a bottle of wine, losing my flashlight, and climbing back down, drunk, in the dark). Those stories might give you something to talk about when meeting new people (although truthfully- I find that the art of making friends is a lot less about what stories you bring to the table than what kind of questions and comments you can make about someone else's stories).

Anyway- if you're looking for actionable things to do to transform how you feel about solitude- give it a try.

Not quite an incel, but have been celibate for a good 4 months after hooking up with a friend twice. Prior to that, I hooked up maybe twice a month with another friend for 6 months or so but stopped cause I didnt know she had a boyfriend still (thought they broke up til she brought him up.. then felt guilty and didnt want to continue.)

Prior to this, was celibate for about a year and a half after my girlfriend broke up with me. Im not really into hook up culture and am a pretty shy dude / not afriad of rejection, but afraid of thr creepy label (I need to work on this).

Anyway.. enough about that. I occupy a huge amount of my time with work and hobbies. Im an artist, so nearly all my freetime outside of my day job is devoted to producing work. I play guitar too so ill jam with friends or something when I have the time. Going out with friends, acquaintances, colleagues etc..

I pretty much just stay busy and focused on my goals rather than what I dont have. Having faith in myself too that im a good catch helps.. (in decent shape, have style and an interesting life).. when I was a kid, I wanted to live a life I couls write a book about or tell some crazy "war stories" to grand kids hah.

Hey Thales,

Serious suggestion here. Have you tried a regime of regular and consistent exercise?

To be more specific, try this: 5k run 2x a week with a longer 10k run on the weekend. Set a goal as well, which gives you a concrete target and an objective measure of self-improvement as you near it. For example, <1 hr for 10k is easily achievable with practice. <50 mins if you're in decent shape, and <45 mins if you're up for a challenge.

Then, also go to the gym and lift weights. The stronglifts 5x5 is a great introduction to lifting, even if you haven't done anything before. Focus on the benchpress, squat and deadlift in the start, it has great benefits.

I strongly thing that there's nothing like exercise, running and lifting to beat depression.

The added boost to your physique, self-worth and SMV makes it absolutely worth it. Many things in life can be fixed simply by exercise and lifting.

If incels are getting depressed and having suicidal thoughts, just become a MGTOW.

Truly, sex is not the be all and end all of everything. You know what sex is at the end of the day ? Its mutual masturbation that typically takes place in a bodily orifice.

If you really want to get off just jerk off and use sex toys like a fleshlight or VR to heighten the sensation. Otherwise find a hooker.

There's more to life than sex and there is more to life to get upset about as opposed to sex. Like lag in a multiplayer match for example. :P

[–]Five_DecadesKnows what women want. Knows he doesn't have it1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't think it is the sex itself, a person can always rent an escort. I think it is the feeling that nobody of the gender you are attracted to finds you attractive. It is feeling left on the shelf (people examine you, decide you aren't worthy or appealing and then move on), a lot of people feel hurt by that. I think incels are hurt more by feeling unwanted and undesirable than by a lack of physical sex (the sex is more an aspect of being desired. Having sex with someone who doesn't desire you in the slightest, like an escort, isn't going to help them).

It is kind of like the low self esteem people on r/deadbedrooms talk about, feeling rejected and unwanted by someone you desire and want to be intimate with. I'd say incels and people on r/deadbedrooms have a lot in common. And on deadbedrooms there are a lot of people who say they are attractive and have options. But the person they love and are married to is repulsed or disinterested in them.

The vast majority of people except for a few exceptions are a waste of space. They aren't missing much. Killing yourself solves nothing because they are the problem and not you. Why let them win?

[–]CarkudoThe original opinionated omega0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Therapy, some techniques to manage emotions and a good healthy does of distraction (including work) help perfectly well with depressive feelings. It's a fight you ultimately cannot win, but you can keep the initiative in it for most of your life - just fight those feelings, don't indulge them, and keep on the movie.

As for suicidal thoughts, I don't see them as a problem. When I'm old, frail and alone, I will commit suicide. If anything, knowing that I won't have to suffer any more than I'm willing to bear is a relief.
