Whilst I agree that interacting with people is typically the better route OLD makes the meeting part a lot more convenient. Espescially if you work odd/long hours or have a non-existent social circle. These sort of "I'm average and I do fine" threads are also useless without knowing what OP looks like or even having a frame of reference for what the OP considers average.

Women on OLD often suffer from a phenomenon called "selection fatigue" or "choice fatigue". They get so used to swiping pictures they lose sight of why they are even rejecting guys. So yeah, for an average guy trying to make contact it's difficult. THEN, even after you make initial contact, you have to compete in her "entrance door comedy festival" where a bunch of men using texting and apps get to compete for her attention and best amuse her.

Does this give you the sense that she might act like some narcissistic princess thinking it's the entire world's job to impress and entertain her?

It gives me that sense, and explains a lot of the behavior. My friend tried to re-stoke a conversation he was enjoying with one lady. Clearly she forgot about him altogether in the sea of guys she's in contact with. But what she said is most telling, when he expressed some mild discontentment after what seemed like a good connection was made:

"Listen, I have a few thousand messages to go through here, so.... yeah..."

So, if you're not going to jump through my hoops, bark like a seal and earn my attention, you can just piss right off. And he did.

This is why I don't care about women anymore or want anything to do with them.

I can't be around someone who is that ignorant and narcissistic. It's such a huge turnoff, that there would be no desire for anything else - even sex.

It's. Just. Gross.

I'd rather deep throat a running chainsaw than compete with sad soyboy simps for the attention of some over-rated '4 dressed up as a 8' attention whore.

No need to prove you wrong. This is exactly how women do it. Except hilariously, many women use apps like tinder to "find" a boyfriend or to find a LTR.

The big flaw in this is you need to already be in a social circle to make this work. Hitting on strangers is even more harder in 2020 because people are not usually used to it and you have to be in very specific context such as bars, music festivals, museums, etc. Even that can be challenging. But yeah, you have far higher chance of getting laid in the real world than online.

my average looking guy friends do just fine on the apps but they know how to dress and take good photos and have a variety of photos that show they have lives and friends. if you're an average looking guy with a shitty haircut and a bunch of selfies where it looks like the soul has been drained from your eyes yeah prob skip the apps

Idk, briefly tried online dating. Wasnt for me, im not on social media outside of this reddit account. I meet women at random in public and thru coworkers or friends. I go to the same stores/gas stations and strike up casual convos and ask em out then. I do fairly well. Im no chad, but im not bottom if the barrel either. Im fat, but get laid way more than my buddies that have 6 packs. Weird 🤷🏻‍♂️

The problem is too many men assume they are only average bc of their collective traits when OLD is good for anyone with ANYTHING notable about them. If you are any kind of niche industry at ALL, you should be on OLD.

I’m 5’6” and OLD is GREAT to me. All platforms. I get laid in tinder even if it’s terrible. I don’t actually use bumble much but if i wanted to pretend to be a nice marriage minded yuppie for pump and dumps I’d be there all day. People make fun of OKC but that’s where I’ve met the women I actually love most.

And again before everyone tells me i am fucking single mother landwhales i am literally a prissy artfag who only messages thin hyper femme art hoe looking girls.

What y’all need to do is UP your OLD game, but tbh i have no incentive to drive that home further. I’m just saying don’t discount it; I’ve been in enough open relationships to know how my competition competes and .... i am not impressed.

A lot of average guys get occasional results on dating apps. Please see the handful of guys with success on the various subs.

Average guys should do the necessary work to be somewhat viable, but then automate that part of their life, instead of becoming obsessed with it.

It is the overall tendency of men to fixate that leads to problems.

Multiple streams of income.

It was ok 8 years ago, but nowadays even above average men get lost in the noise. The reports of success on here are dramatizations, or the girls aren't that hot. I see the women my colleagues match with and I do better than them, but even still it's like pulling teeth. I'd rate myself as a 7.5 and I routinely match with 4-6's but as soon as she gets to my level the chance of flaking goes through the roof. It's not healthy for the male psyche to not be in the driver seat. We were designed to initiate and captivate women, not be sifted through like some catalog. Roles are being inverted. I commend you for setting boundaries in your life to the behavior you'll tolerate and am glad it's working out for you.

OLD enabled the creation a sex hierarchy giving women access to a tier of genetics that wouldn't otherwise have. I date 4's and 5's, the 9s date 7s, etc-etc. This arrangement in the new standard for non-monogamous culture and it is a brutal red pill for men. For women it's more like "tee-hee he's cute!" very unaware of the larger forces at work. Pushing back against the OLD model is in essence rejecting this shitty hand dealt to majority of men.

I'm a woman, I downloaded a bunch of dating apps to see what they were like. I was just curious, not trying to date. (Someone said the profiles were awful) I downloaded tinder, OkCupid, hinge, plenty of fish, and a few others. As a woman, it was insane the amount of messages I got and my profile wasn't that good and I barely tried. I got the most messages from plenty of fish and hinge, but all the other apps too. So just know if you are a man, the woman might get a ton of messages. It's a lot of compitition for you just to get a response.

If the guy is really hot, I'm intimidated to match with him because I think he's a player and shallow. But then, if he's not good looking, it's not like I'm drawn to him either. Oddly, I found men to be either too good looking out too rough looking. Not too many average Joes. I think I'm average, so I feel probably more secure picking someone average just based on looks. Odd that average men seem more scarce, or maybe that was just my imagination.

I noticed that I prefer it when a guy looks sophisticated, or nerdy versus a blue collar worker. But, I felt bad about this. I thought, he could be really smart and be a blue collar worker. But he gives off unsophisticated vibes with his appearance somehow. But in real life he could be very thoughtful. It's crazy how just appearances can make a person seem a certain way without knowing them. I was also surprised that I cared if a man seemed sophisticated and intelligent. I didn't know that would matter for me until I started swiping.

Also, I don't drink alcohol, I don't prefer beards or tattoos, and I don't like dogs that much except for a few breeds. And sports is very low on my priority list. Every guys profile was I love beer, dogs, sports and he had tattoos and a beard. Every dudes profile was this. I thought, I wish I was a lesbian. So, maybe try looking different than other men and put more unique things in your profile. But be honest about your hobbies so she knows to avoid of she's really not into it.

Having hobbies and meeting people in real life is probably the best though.

Yes but today dating isn’t the same as it was back then. 30%+ of all marriages were from online social media apps. People talk to each other less, men openly flirt less, #metoo made the work place land mines, people are more isolated. What you say is probably true but even that is harder today due to social media, new social conventions, modern young adults social ineptness and #metoo.

Me, Im a slightly above average guy, used to be average. About 20% of my lays and relationships were from OLD, the rest from night-game.

OLD has been hit or miss. I got a 2 year LTR but also got a date that I turned down for "netflix and chill" at her house

It's like anything else. Luck.

The downside for men is you can get rejection or ignored from 20 women in one night.
