Consent just means “you have their permission”.

If you’re cold-approaching, you don’t have a woman’s consent.

If you have good social skills, you have the potential to “make your pitch” before she can say “please leave me alone”, which means she might hold off and be willing to listen…

But it’s about as likely as people who listen to pitches from traveling salesmen or Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Usually, when you hear a man and woman flirting, they already know each other and have established that as their dynamic.

If she isn’t flirting with you, it’s because she doesn’t want to.

how we perceive something depends on many things. behavior, delivery, previous interaction; looks too due to halo effect but it isn't the only thing that matters by far.

I'll portray a hypothetical situation. it doesn't match every real instance of this happening, but I'm showing a variable in your equation.

man 1 is confident and openly sexual. a part of his imagine is having sex a lot even if it's not necessarily the truth and he often jokes about it. a woman who has this context may perceive his actions as having no thought behind a joke, especially if he moves on with his day. that is more likely to land with a sexually open woman or if for some obvious reason sex cannot happen between the two. nothing promises a safe reaction to it though.

man 2 is anxious when making the same joke; he's nervous, his eyes are shifting. it seems like he puts a lot of stock into what he said. this makes him look serious, and now it's not a joke anymore.

also we can experience negative feelings without it being a moral judgement. a person a woman doesn't find appealing may make a sexual joke about her and she may react negatively to it. doing things "correctly" doesn't mean people won't react negatively. we're free to feel whatever we want. we don't owe each other neutrality.

that being said, it's ONLY A PART of these situations. you see plenty of times a woman rejecting an attractive man's advances and jokes. but it's the same mentality that you have that causes men to believe it's because the guy isn't attractive enough. the woman having her own feelings, thoughts, and experiences that are not revolving around that man or men in general, is for some reason never a consideration.

No, you just don't know what consent is. An initial approach isn't the problem. If a guy walks up, says hello, flirts a little, realizes she's not interested, and politely leaves, virtually no woman is going to think twice about it.

The problem is what usually happens next. He keeps talking after she's made it clear she's isn't interested. He ignores short answers, body language, attempts to leave, or an explicit "no." That's where it stops being a normal social interaction and becomes harassment.

Consent isn't "you need permission to say hello." Consent is respecting the answer once you have it. You're pretending those are the same thing, and they aren't. That's why your entire argument falls apart.

What you are describing isn't consent. People have different reactions to same behavior/action from different people. That's just reality, accept that. A pretty girl asking me for help would not annoy me while a landwhale asking me would. Same with butting in in a conversatioconversation.

i am not sure, i think it depends on the woman , which is why i am agaisnt men approaching without some reasonable level of hint or sign from the women that she is into them , otherwise i general find it unwise

Consent isn't required just to talk to someone, casually flirt or ask them out. Consent is required for physical contact. (That may extend to sexual propositioning in explicit terms.)

It has to be persistent unwanted attention before it crosses into harassment (or in situations where it's inappropriate i.e. the street, a shopping mall etc.)

Are these just your personal anecdotes or do you have evidence this is a systemic phenomenon?
Here are my own personal anecdotes about my experiences as an almost 29-years old woman and I know that my girl friends feel the same.

I never resent a nice unattractive guy making me compliments if I know he is SAFE and takes a "no" for a "no", compliments are fine. And if a guy who's physically attractive starts making sexual jokes even though we barely know each other, I'd automatically see him as a big potential threat as he's either socially very incompetent or a predator very sure of himself.

So because some women consented to Chad testing her boundaries in some obscure, highly specific situation, therefore women generally don't understand the concept of consent and are unreliable arbiters who are over reporting rape. Cases of rape accusations are really just misunderstandings.

It seems like you don't know what consent is about and just waving the word. Also nice rebranding of a post, since "read the room" angle didn't work out you decided to make it consent issue, which it isn't in the slightest. Nobody says that a guy who is saying that a woman is attractive is violating consent.

I think most women/feminist prefer nebulous definitions & standards. That way they can define whatever takes place however they want. It fits their solipsistic nature. What i think they're having a hard time with is seeing forward; understanding that actions have consequences.

So if we break down the example of men making passes from this POV, it loks something like this. Women don't want certain guys making passes at them, therefore they classify making a pass as harassment, creepy, etc. What they fail to see is that this action drives large cohorts of men out of the dating market, and even if it exclusively drove out just the men she wants driven out of the market, those men could potentially be good matches for other women.

Women are interesting to observe as they oscillate between solipsism & group think. Sticking with this example, the solipistic women emasculates some guy for making a pass at her, oblivious to the consequences for him, other women, other men, the dating market, society as whole and even herself down the line. So then men point out this selfish & shortsighted behavior by individual women and they switch to group think mode and not only defend this behavior, they "all" double and triple down and adopt this destructive behavior and lable you a incel & misogynist for even bringing it up.

And the one that asks for it if not invited to do so would be harassing anyways.
