As a guy, I know a lot of guys (women too) who think the idea of being in a relationship is terrible and that they are better off without a significant other. Personally, I don't see much of a problem with being in a relationship, especially if you connect with the person you're dating. It's possible I have more anxiety than a lot of other guys, but here's why I think this:

  1. You don't have to constantly put yourself out there. Instead of having to use game or hit up a bunch of people in hopes of getting laid, you basically got what you need on demand. No bullshit, no games, and you put in maybe a tenth of the effort to get what you want. Plus you can be a lot more direct with them than you can others. Less talking/strategizing, more doing. It's convenient and fun.

  2. You can do things that are otherwise frowned upon if you go with a bunch of dudes. Want to watch a Disney/Pixar/Romantic movie (and not those lame ass Sparks movies I'm talking Oscar nominated films like Theory of Everything, Silver Linings Playbook etc.)? No problems. Brunch? You got it. Things that are passed off as childish/not for guys you now have a reason to do those things. You can do this with groups of friends obviously, but you're not necessarily going to get intimate/action of any type.

  3. Your social status goes up. Usually your SO has a ton of friends who otherwise may not be as receptive to you if you cold approached them. It opens the door to you meeting more people in a less threatening environment. Your friends also know when they're going out with you, at the very least they've got a chance to flex some game. With women around you, and when you're dating someone, people are way more inclined to approach you and hang out with you, since they have no real reason to shield you off. Personally, when I'm in a relationship, I am a lot more relaxed and confident in myself, which rubs off on others.

  4. (If you have an awesome SO) You can both let your guard down, do really weird shit and potentially ride the tricycle. Especially if your SO already has bisexual tendencies. No worries about scaring people off or any of that nonsense.

I might be naive or in a really good relationship, but I would like to hear all of your thoughts on this.
