It is true that no single academic article should be taken as representing a fundamental truth of reality without scrutiny. Hell often in the literature review of said research, the author will acknowledge other studies that came to a very different conclusion and cite them for your reading pleasure. That said, it is very obnoxious when people take the articles that agree with what they already believed as gospel and suddenly develop skepticism and/or critical thinking skills for anything else.

So no, citing research does not automatically make a user logical. How they engage with the research says a lot more, and no offense but many of you absolutely fall short on that front.

None of these things are matters of logic, they are studies that are based on statistics. They're empirical evidence to support your point, not logical evidence. Go look up what logic means before you make a post this bad. Treating a study as if it's logic is tantamount to ignoring any conflicting evidence and declaring your evidence the only evidence that matters

If these men were logical, they’d have no problem with the idea that you have to have something to offer for a woman to be interested in them.

First, could you define “logic”?

Because from my POV, when it comes to being able to follow a rationale and its varying lenses end to end, I find that men have a problem with replete reasoning. Mostly because they seem unable to consider all of the perspectives and dynamics at play (limited capacity for empathy). This makes them very linear and exhaustingly literal thinkers. I find that to be a barrier of theirs when it comes to comprehensive critical analysis.

For example, I’ve seen guys on this sub claim “women are being illogical!” When she wasn’t at all. Those guys were just so rigid in their solipsistic thinking that they couldn’t see the obvious reason that they found her “illogical” was because they for whatever reason couldn’t comprehend that her goals were not his goals. That was the straightforward disconnect that their brains simply couldn’t figure out.

Like I said. Their empathy-devoid self-focused linear thinking gets them caught up in “utter confusion” every time. Meanwhile they’re always the only ones confused… 🙄

And then they have the nerve to call the other person “illogical.” It’s incredibly fascinating to observe. It’s the Dunning-Kruger effect on steroids.

Inb4: these are obviously generalizations before someone comes in with “not all” :/

All of these things you claimed has nothing to do with logic tho.

And that's a damn lie that men take on just as much of the responsibilities at home as do women. This is a major reason why women intiate divorce more than men, because the men are comfortable in their marriages, while women feel like overworked dogs.

Men may do a little more in modern times, but it does not match a woman's effort most of the time, even if she is working full time or part time.

Women still are juggling a majority of the domestic labor and child rearing, while men go to work, and typcially have more leisure time.

This post alone looks like you wrote it based more on emotion rather than logic.

Your studies aren't proof of anything because it's easy to find contradictory studies, for example pews own data shows in families with children, women do more housework, paid work, childcare total over men.

And that 29% of women are victims of domestic violence, contradicts the idea that only 0.03% of men are violent.

I'd say using a singular study to prove anything isn't logical if there is equal or more evidence to suggest otherwise.

What you stated are very simple facts (let’s assume a single study is a fact for the purpose of this discussion). Unfortunately, the debate is often much more complex than arguing about the truth of simple facts like the ones you listed. I will expain what I mean with three of the facts you listed:

Most men support legal abortion: The anger towards men regarding abortion often stems from the fact that men lean more conservative than women and thereby are more likely to vote in a way that opposes abortion rights. Another factor might be that the vast majority of people voting about abortion laws are men (Only 29% of congress are men). Some people feel that men should not be in charge of making decisions about women’s bodies as they will not be the ones directly facing the consequences of it. To clarify, I do not neccesarily agree with those sentiments, I am just trying to show that the discussion is often not arguing about one simple number (percentage of men in favour of abortions rights).
There is no real pay gap: Not sure why you have decided that only the adjusted gender pay gap is “real”. Some people think even the unadjusted pay gap should be reduced / eliminated. There could be multiple reasons for this. For example, women do significantly much more unpayed work compared to men. If a woman stays at home with a child and / or does the majority of house chores, she spends time working while not getting any work experience / not progressing in her carreer. If the couple breaks up / divorces, this disadvantages the woman for the rest of her life, depending on how many children she had. Despite what PPD men say, women often do worse financially after divorce compared to men. Also, there is the adjusted gender pay gap which controls for job position, skill, qualifications etc. This is still not zero in many countries.
Only 0.3% of men are violent: Again, the discussion about men being violent is not simply about what percentage of men have been convicted of a violent crime. Violent crime is often underreported, especially sexual assault / rape / child sexual abuse. Some things violent things some men do are not even considered crimes (Not sure if for example slapping or roughly grabbing someones neck without consent during sex would be considered a crime? Not too familiar with the law in that area unfortunately. Just wanted to mention it.). Also the discussion is often more victim centric in the sense that people are angry about a relatively large percentage of women experiencing some form of violence from men despite the number of violent men being relatively small (Small amount of men commit a large number of crimes / violence).

What I mentioned were not my personal opinions, but rather other perspectives on the issues you mentioned that hopefully clarified why complex discussions cannot be reduced to a single number most of the time.

Statistical distribution is very important in interpreting data, but generally people debating here tend to downplay or overlook it.

One way of interpreting the data you cited on housework, for example, would be to conclude that a sizable percentage of men do equivalent amounts of housework with their female partners and that men who refuse to do this will be comparatively disadvantaged in trying to pair up — but those men don’t take interpretation, they interpret this to mean that they, themselves, are already doing enough.
