When I used apps, I went on a few dates with disturbingly attractive men. I knew there was a catch, but was curious none the less.

There was always a catch. There was something wrong with all of them. A few notable examples, one was roided rager, another was a himbo to comic proportions, another was literally a homeless cokehead prostitute.

If I see extremely attractive men, I think that their profile is fake, that they've got enough matches, that I'm not physically attractive enough to match with them.

I only swiped on people who I found attractive enough, had similar career education, and were independent.

I avoided profiles that only had pictures and nothing else.

Never. I never send likes to ‘top tier’ men, I imagine them doing the same thing I do when I get a like from a man well well well below my league, think to myself “really?” And swipe left.

Im fine going after men I have a shot with.

Often (if one thinks of top 5% as the most attractive 5 people in any given distribution of 100). I’m conventionally attractive enough (literally work as an exotic dancer) but top 5% of men always want to hit and quit. I prefer someone 5 or better with a funny profile, a good job, no kids, older than me etc…

Probably never. Honestly if a guy looks too ripped/rich/put together I assume he's crawling in women and arrogant, so I just pass on him. I think I tried once for a upper-middle class, Chris Evans look-alike just for fun (not really my type) and ironically we matched. He had just gone through a breakup and emotionally dumped everywhere within about 2-3 messages of the conversation. Lotta bitterness and issues. I unmatched after the convo finished. I don't care how conventionally good looking the guy is, it's not worth a ton of baggage—even for a "maybe this could be novelty hookup?"

Realistically the top 5% of men don't even exist on dating apps, imo. They're probably somewhere on a private islands banging heiresses and stuff.

No lie, 1 time, 1 time, I matched with this dude on tinder who was strictly looking for NSA, and he was a "model" of some kinda, I think for clothing. But dude, he was insanely good looking. He was middleeastern/western Asian I think, so like he still probably didn't get the same options a insanely good looking white or black guy woild get. (Not saying white and black guys are hotter in any way, jusy saying Asian and middle eastern perceived men have a hard time dating, ans east Asian men face unique racism just like Asian women do, but Asian men are given much less sexual options). But this guy goddamn..we talked a little too, but I wasn't looking for NSA at the time. Otherwise we would have bumped bumped

But was he top 5%? Can't say. Definitely top 20, which is still insanely good looking

I semi-recently made a tinder just to get out there and matched with a few 9/10. So I don’t know if I’d say they were top 5% since it varies by region/city. I did it as a test to see if I’d get a match. Immediately unmatched. I’m into average guys, everyone is surprised by the guys I’m into. I’m not sure if I unconsciously see “hot” men as less capable or something. Just not my type.

No idea if they are top 5 percent or not but I match with every profile where I think the guy is hot. I don’t swipe on anyone that has a shirtless photo though. They usually message me pretty fast. I often get overwhelmed with too many messages and end up deleting the whole account because of anxiety.

When I was on the apps I immediately swiped left on really attractive men. I assumed that they were catfishes/fuckboys/tragically flawed in some kind of way.

I would have swiped left on my SO if I had met him on Tinder. I jokingly called him a "player" on our third date, and he said "I don't understand why women think that I'm a player. I get that a lot. Is it because of the way I look?" Apparently being turned down because you're percieved to be too good looking as a man is a thing. It's hard to picture a hot guy as someone real when their tinder profile looks like a photoshopped cologne ad - it's not as intimidating to meet one IRL because you can see their personality quirks, mannerisms, flaws etc.
