Largely the issue is here is that we have cheaped dating by alot. We tell guys that they all need to find a "8+ influencer" and we tell women they all need to find a "8+ machoman". Very little focus is put on things like personality, emotional maturity, and life compatablity stuff that makes a relationship actually work. Instead we focus too much on looks and overall coolness. We assign people meaningless numbers based on what society claims is attractive while we totally forget what we actually want if we're being honest with your selves.

It's totally normal as a teenager to be attracted to the best looking popular kids. At this time status means alot. But once your college aged it's really time to focus on finding healthy relationships that reflect the sort of person you are and want to be. There a lot of "types" out their. Maybe you like artists, or nerds, or farm girls/guys. Maybe you want someone to travel with, build a homestead with, or start a animal charity with. Only you know what you actually want and it's worth the soul searching to find out.

Look for more depth in people and you'll be rewarded with a relationship that makes you a better person and has real long lasting love. My advice is give the girl who works at the dog shelter and watches anime a chance. Give the guy who tutors kids and is learning guitar a chance. Give them a chance even if you think their just kind of cute. You might be surprised to find that they have more to offer than you thought.
