Patriarchy police stand down. Man was charged full price for gym membership and given limited access. He would have happily paid for a cheaper membership, accepting the women's hours. He understands that a woman can find gym environments uncomfortable when men are present. He did not like the implication that just because he was a man, he was a possible predator by default.

Actions justified.

My gym has a small "women preferred" section that's just light weights and cardio and a few ab machines. The gym people said men were allowed there to use any particular machine if they wanted to though.

I had the same issue last year in the UK with a council gym

I did some research and came across this video. I went in, complained and ended up taking to 2 managers. Asked if there was any male only hours. If not how do I get my refund.

Please note I was locked in for 1 year and I wanted out as I was moving.

Yes I got let out of my contract. But they did get me very mad, as they said it's not sexist if it's against males

Furthermore, if a woman feels uncomfortable at the gym that is ultimately her problem to deal with. People should not be being denied access to something when they have done nothing wrong, simply because someone else feels uncomfortable. That's not their fault, it's yours. If you feel uncomfortable it's up to YOU to solve that issue, no one else.

Funny how these people want mixed bathrooms but at the same time want women only gym hours, swimming hours, female doctors only for Muslims women and so on. I can't wrap my brain around these double standards.

You go the gym to train, mind your own business and if there are creepers, may it be male or female, notify the gym staff and have them removed.

Do they not have women only gyms in the UK? They have them over here in Australia. As much as I find them hypocritical as if there were a bunch of men only gyms I am sure there would be an outcry of feminists, I don't really care, they are pretty expensive gyms to go to anyway.

I do wonder how these female only gyms, or gyms like this one with female only times are going to cope with trans people. I mean more people are willing to come out as trans now than 5-10 years ago, so it is an issue that they probably haven't really faced before.

Imagine the outrage if they interviewed a white guy in front of the gym and he said "Well, I just feel uncomfortable when there are a bunch of black guys in the gym. I like having workout hours where they aren't allowed in so I can feel safe."

I don't see much difference between "oh, gym's closed at this time" and "oh, gym's closed at this time because it's women's hours".

It's nice to work out without having to worry of being eye-raped by gym members. He's ruining the comfort of these women out of principle.

He knew the operating hours in advance, and yet still signed up, that should mean he agreed to the terms, but then afterwards, he decides he isn't okay with it anymore, talk about fickle.

What's next, men suing women-only classes as being sexist? People sue too much in this society.

Meh, I wish men would do what women don't - shut up and don't make a big deal out of nothing. My gym has a part only for women, which works fine. Excluding men from the gym at some hours probably isn't an actual problem for men, but some might feel hurt, or some nonsense like that.
